Argumento y comentario:
Una mansión de familia aristócrata, la familia Lord se viste de gala para la inminente segundo matrimonio de la sofisticada y fría heredera Tracy Lord con el acaudalado y pretencioso George Kitteredge. La cosa se complica de forma radical cuando su carismático ex-marido, C.K Dexter Haven, vuelve a aparecerse de pronto trayendo con el a un cínico reportero de prensa rosa llamado Macaulay «Mike» Connor, que está infiltrado para cubrir la exclusiva del evento. En el transcurso de un día y una noche de enredos y excesos alcohólicos, el reportero se enamorará perdidamente de Tracy, forzándola a enfrentarse a sus propios prejuicios, a plantearse su inalcanzable postura ante la vida y descubrir a cuál de los tres hombres ama en verdad.
Comentario: La película brilla de forma eterna gracias a unos diálogos de ritmo milimétrico y punzante ingenio. Supuso además el salvavidas profesional de Katharine Hepburn, quien tras ser declarada «veneno para la taquilla» recuperó el control de su carrera produciendo astutamente la adaptación. La cinta destaca también por otorgar el primer y único premio Óscar de la academia a James Stewart como actor principal. [2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10]
