@jet It especially works great if you're just venting (and #izzzzi is good for that), and you're not quite sure what you were upset about two days ago.

In the strange world of the website #izzzzi you can make one post in a 24-hour period and that is then shown to your mutuals at a fixed time. They can then reply to you, and you will see that up to 24 hours later. So it can be close to 48 hours since you wrote whatever is being replied to. Gentle reader, you'll be shocked to hear I really strain to remember what someone is replying to, every time.

My #izzzzi "feed" has stagnated a bit, anyone still in there?

Back on #izzzzi , at least for /tomorrow. Will see if I can keep some kind of journaling streak up. Probably not.

To clarify: I have not stopped *reading* izzzzi, I check it on most days, I've just not been posting. So if we are mutuals, you are probably not screaming into the void, I'm just bad at screaming back.

i made a thing!

inspired by #izzzzi and @neauoire & @rek's "days" photo feed, i made myself a little journal app. it's made with flask and hosted from a raspberry pi in my home. the idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while and i'm excited that it's finally live on the internet now.

i got back into journaling through posting to izzzzi. i liked how easy it was to post there. but i wished i could save my history. i also like taking and sharing photos, but posting them to my main website involves several additional steps that make it not as nice for a quick log-style format.

here are some of its aspects:
- there can only be one post per date.
- a post can have one or no photos. photos can have alt text.
- only i have login access. i can make private posts that only i can see.
- i can use markdown formatting.
- there is an RSS feed.
- the index page follows the HTML journal spec. it's kind of brutalistically simple.
- the code repo is public. you can make your own version of this too if you want!

Big #izzzzi update today:

1. You can see who added you but where you didn't add them and vice versa
2. You can reply to posts (apparently as a "PM")

Especially the latter is interesting. You saw some interaction between posts, but some people also wanted one-way experience only. Of course you won't have public "discussions" this way, but it might be good for some "Things get better" and "I'm with you" posts – because, dang, my #izzzzi "timeline" can get dark sometimes.

I'm posting long form in several parts to izzzzi.net over the next week: In Transit: Excerpts From A Notebook (Tokyo, 2003), a personal diary that reads (now) almost like old sci-fi — dated tech' and the pod-like insulation and personal self-absorption of late 20th century business travel.

Definitely not a life I miss.

People on #izzzzi : What do you think about mentioning or even quoting other people? Might break the "circle of trust" as other people than mutuals learn about them, but on the other hand do we want a write-only medium?
