  8. When people ask when was the Irish state founded, I usually respond "it's complicated".
    For example: could claim the signing of the 1921 Anglo-Irish treaty which ended the War of Independence. That immediately split the country triggering civil war. During the civil war, #100YearsAgo the Constitution came into effect on 1922-12-06.
    Then the civil war ended in 1923. The Irish Free State ended with a new constitution in 1937 when we officially became #Ireland
