Dear #IOCX Community, big news!
After taking care of our small little corner of the Internet for the last 7+ years, I have decided to move on and transition the reigns.
Now the really good news: The great @jerry has graciously agreed to take care of #IOCX going forward.
@jerry , @tellyworth and I are already working together on the transition and there will likely be some downtime as soon as tomorrow.

Our instance has been updated to Mastodon v4.2.8. This update does not include any changes that are relevant to our instance in particular but we do want to stay up2date to be ready for the next update.
I also changed our max character limit for posts from 1024 to 4096, so y'all can go on with your rants for longer ;-)

@chkuendig @jerry Thanks. We are not putting any blocks in place preventatively. We will handle the Threads instance the same way as any other instance. If community members of #IOCX feel like they don’t want to interact with threads users, they can block the instance on the user level.
As far as I understand the business model of companies like meta, it is highly unlikely that they will make federation opt-out on their side. They will very likely only enable the fediverse as an opt-in feature for their users.

yesterday evening we fixed the last issue resulting from the v4.2 migration - Yay!
With v4.2 running we now have the ability to assign custom roles to ourselves and show them as badges in our profiles. We will use this feature to offer custom badges to our members (financial supporters giving recurring donations).
