So if anyone wanted to avoid the Jane Hume word salad on #Insiders, she essentially said:
1. She would not support a federal Royal Commission on corruption in the construction sector
2. She would consider a minority government with the support of One Nation
3. She won't comment on Angus Taylor's naming in the ICAC review
4. She does support the ending of the fuel excise. -
On Insiders today, you could hear the potential campaign sound bites & slogans in the speechy bits of Albo’s interview. For instance:
“we choose progress rather than protest / We choose outcomes rather than outrage / We deliver real change.” (Doing this from memory & scanty notes so may not be 100% verbatim but you get the idea & will probably hear much much more of the same in the coming weeks & months…). 🫤“On a lighter note” Albo says he’s never yelled at Toto & Raf opines that you’ve failed as a dog-parent if you have to YELL at your dog… 🐶 (Apparently Barnaby’s on air dog yelling went viral. TG I missed that. 🫤)

Insiders today. Some things I found interesting. “AI” is never defined (is it LLMs? Is it what we already had a lot of before - expert systems, Machine Learning, etc?) 🤔
Apparently, last week, in China, Xi personally (this is a big deal) made a speech on AI, & has specifically outlawed “human companion AIs”. A new regional grouping includes Indonesia, Malaysia,… & Russia. And the US says Chinese bots are slowing down others all over the world… 🙀
Bragg (interviewed) says Hanson (PHON) has “made a business out of teeing off against minority interests”. Then disintegrates into name calling: Communists! Albanese bad! 30% tax on everything! But pulls himself together to scorn the silly over-emphasis on the impact of trans & other minorities; as well as Tony Abbott’s unhelpful recent speech. 🙂
PK appears unprepared, disconnected or just giving Bragg all the rope he wants (a contrast to last week when she talked all over her interviewee). Bragg rarely challenged, never corrected. PK talks marginally less than last week… 🫤
News I missed: the federal govt released its response to the Islamophobia envoy’s report’s recommendations yesterday. Annabel draws attention to the Saturday release as trying to fly under the radar. ✈️
Hanson’s a “30 year entrepreneur in the attention economy” says Annabel, & PHON’s recent polling increase reflects failures in other parties rather than agreement with its people/positions; also describes PHON’s Senator Malcolm Roberts as someone who “dances to his own drumbeat” which puts an alarming picture into my imagination… 🕺
The captioning text often makes minor mistakes & my fave today was “Papal enclickal” for Papal Encyclical.
