  1. #InertiaJS 3 has been released. Very positive experience so far. Haven’t tried all the novelties yet, but so far, paired with Vue:

    - The new Http client is very cool, thou not perfect.
    - A bit less friction in the overall setup/boilerplate.
    - 24 KB (gzipped) lighter, so I’m now at 72 KB versus 96 KB before.
    - An “Hello world” app is around 55 KB gzipped, down from 70 KB.
    - The new Vite plugin is useless unless you want to SSR in development.

  3. @danharrin Though, I currently don't use them (and I really should, it seems—when I have the "right" side project), it's amazing to see how far #Inertia and #NativePHP have come 👏🏻

  5. I wish there was something like Filament PHP but using Inertia.

Currently using Nuxt UI v4, and while it slaps, I'm kind of tired of so much plumbing for things that Filament PHP offers you out-of-the-box.

Yeah, I'm sill recommending Filament PHP.

  7. Shipped tonight:

    - a RSS feed (with dates in French :napo:… whoops!), using @spatie #Laravel feed package.
    - a first basic version of the Nintendo Direct archives (2025 only for now): nintendodirect.sunappu.net/arc : it’s the 2nd URL, so this update also comes with a small navigation header.

I’ve also started to pimp the CMS, using #InertiaJS and #Vue. Good experience so far, but I have more to do. Inertia payload is heavy (Inertia + Vue = 70 KB gzipped), that’s why I only use it for the CMS.

  9. A couple of weeks ago, in my quest to try and fall back into the habit of reading books, I came across @hardcover and I noticed on their blog that they're using a library called Inertia.js, and it looks like just the thing I want to use when I eventually get round to my next Rails project.

  10. The Inertia.js + @CrystalLanguage work is coming along! Check out my latest video showing the prototype in action. Started with a simple 'Fruit Jokes' app rather than PingCRM. Still very experimental but promising!

  15. It's so annoying that the thing I wanted the most from Inertia.js 2.0 is so extremely buggy.

Inertia::merge() was supposed to make infinite scrolling extremely trivial. But it just doesn't work properly with standard Laravel. Even the main Example from the documentation doesn't work…

I wanted to use it two times now and it's so annoying to use and it only works with compromises I don't want to make… Additionally to the ugly workaround code I have to write.

    This is so "Un-Laravel"…

  17. Well. I guess I have to talk about #InertiaJS at the @vuejs_berlin meetup in less than an hour.

Wish me luck I don't blackout or something. 😁 But I deleted over 50% of my slides and just created a small demo to look at the code and the result instead.

So maybe, that could work. I mean that's how I do it at work. But usually in German. 😬

  19. Aaron Francis is developing Fusion, a wrapper around #InertiaJS to allow to write PHP in Vue components : youtube.com/watch?v=sa3XHjG1Kg

I’m curious to discover the use cases for it compared to Inertia. 🤔

  21. Finished the preparations for a small presentation about #InertiaJS 2.0 for the developer meeting at work tomorrow.

I think it's a good start to build from there for a talk about Inertia.js in general at the @vuejs_berlin meetup next week. 😊

No idea why but suddenly I really like talking in front of others. I'm not good yet I think, but I have fun. 😁

  25. In our case we're dealing with a *lot* of really unique reactive forms and 3d display elements, where not having to build out reactivity is a huge velocity advantage.

I've tried Livewire and other tech like it, but honestly, it's not quite there yet for a lot of complex use cases.

    #Laravel + #InertiaJS + #Vue is what we're rolling with, and it's working out pretty great.

  27. Oh nice! The Inertia 2.0 Beta is live. Pretty hyped for this release. I already have some things in my mind I can do with this for Questlog.

Some things not possible before or with a huge load of work. Some smaller things I can use to optimize Questlog. Especially in performance where I'm still not really satisfied with.

I like to see that there are no breaking changes when you use a modern version of Laravel and Vue. Especially when I read something like "The core library has been completely rewritten".

When I think of the last big release it was extremely annoying. 😅 But seems like it was worth the effort.

  30. Hardcover’s rewrite from Next.js to Rails is coming along nicely. Can’t wait to have the entire app in Rails!

One very nice find has been OJ Serializers + Types from Serializers ( github.com/ElMassimo/oj_serial + github.com/ElMassimo/types_fro ).

This combo allows for TypeScript types for every serializer - making for a great TypeScript experience with Rails.

  36. I'm messing around to combine #Laravel 11 + #React via #InertiaJS and #ThreeJS for the WebGL 3D scenes

  37. Been out of the #laravel ecosystem since 2021. Thinking about coming back for a side project I want to start soon. Is there anything noteworthy I missed in the last 3 years? Do people still use #vuejs or any other #javascript front ends with #InertiaJS ? Or is everyone all in on #livewire?

    #programming #softwaredevelopment

  38. #Nuxt seems like a very good front end option.. 🤔 It's super handy and I guess it's better to go with SSR from the start

#InertiaJS is cool and all but in the end I have to do the work twice since an API is a must for mobile anyways

  39. Thanks to all. I'm very glad to have at least a small idea and some insides for developing an web app in a small team at the beginning of 2024 :). And, at least in this bubble, it seems like it's more a question of #python vs. #rust.

And I'm happy to see at least one who's saying, that #rubyonrails could be back somehow ( @janpet )

I'm more used to #rubyonrails, but (maybe) I need to put together a team of devs for a web project. That's why I was asking for the "right" #techstack.

    Thanks to all of you guys... @ashguy , @Loungagna , @Aedius , @maciekglowka , @beeb , @mo8it , @jsalvador , @livingcoder , @Crell , @norambna , @danjac , @janpet , @corpsmoderne , @rvxlab , @egion and @slott56 (in hope that I didn't forgot to mention anyone)
