As I continue to read through #NormanSolomon's book "The Blue Road to Trump Hell" while stripping the terrible code #Adobe #InDesign output in the #EPUB version, the thing that stands out is how the #DNC simply haven't understood; the #USPol electorate post-Obama isn't the same as pre.

No #Centrist can build the necessary coalition on the left, because the fundamental hypocrisy of the Centrist position, that corporate agendas are compatible with the #Democrat voter base, is electorally toxic.

Oh my god, I've just seen the #HTML and #CSS #Adobe #InDesign puts out when creating an #EPUB.

I think I'm going to be sick. 🤢

From that point on, we had no choice but to use the #InDesign file as the starting point for our work on the website. This is because it was in this file, and this file alone, that the final versions of the texts were centralised.

Spaß mit Scripting auf InDesign-Server:

Ein LanguageWithVendors-Objekt hat u.a. diese Properties:
- "name" – z.B. "Spanisch" (bei deutscher UI)
- "untranslatedName" – z.B. "Spanish: Castilian", so steht’s z.B. auch in IDML/ICML

Finden kann man ein gültiges Objekt mit:
> app.languagesWithVendors.itemByName("Spanish: Castilian")

Soweit so gut, gibt ja auch Sinn hier einen unlokalisierten Namen zu verwenden.

Auf dem Server nun: "untranslatedName" gibt es einfach nicht, die Objekte enthalten nur:
- "name": "Spanish"

Wenn ich das aber finden will, brauche ich weiter:
> app.languagesWithVendors.itemByName("Spanish: Castilian")
während
> app.languagesWithVendors.itemByName("Spanish")
kein Ergebnis liefert.

Thought I'd have to make 3 copies of the art, crop down to 13×37, and carefully move within the crop to align next to each other.

MUCH better way: #InDesign can place multiple pages side by side! So just one copy of the art filling all three pages, tweak crop to desired position, then export a PDF of the pages automatically aligned!

@rainerklute wir haben hier große Probleme damit, dass wenn man #InDesign-Dokumente aus älteren Versionen einbettet, diese beim Export in ein PDF keine Transparenzen mehr beinhalten. Ist dir das schon begegnet?

Ich arbeite weiter in erster Linie mit InDesign 20.5.3, weil InDesign in einer neueren Version eine nervige Code-Änderungen eingeführt hat, die Auswirkungen auf die Barrierefreiheit von PDFs hat.

Für alle, denen Barrierefreiheit nicht so wichtig ist, gebe ich jetzt grünes Licht für die aktuelle InDesign-Version 21.3.

One more way I know Adobe is getting further out of touch with print designers: they've removed the postcard and brochure formats from their Blank Document Presets. Not that I don't know the dimensions and guidelines to set up for these, but it's wild that they don't have these but kept "Compact Disc." #GraphicDesign #InDesign #Adobe

@Matthias selbes hier. (Auch #Windows > #linuxmint ) #Inkscape kannst du eher mit #CorelDraw oder wenn du #Adobe hernehmen willst, dann #Illustrator vergleichen. Kein DTP Programm wie #InDesign , auch wenn man nun Seiten anlegen kann. Druckvorlagenerstellung (Ausgabe als PDF-X usw...) eignet sich eigentlich nur #Scribus aber es ist ein trauriges Programm. Altbacken & staubtrocken: Es fühlt sich an wie aus einem Museum entliehen. 😩 😅
Ich habe für Webgrafiken Libreoffice Draw entdeckt.
