#Tolkien's elves are not related to #IcelandicFolklore but rather #NorseMythology. The elves of myth might actually be the gods we refer to as Vanir. Categories in folklore and mythology rarely have clear boundaries.
I think the elves of Icelandic folklore were less influenced by myths and more by #CelticFolklore (a large part of the early population of Iceland were Celtic).

Today I came across a sketch I made a couple years ago, which reminded me of the Jólakötturinn (#yule cat), a #mythical creature from Icelandic #folklore.
According to the #Myth, the giant cat is known to roam the snowy wilderness, on the hunt for people who haven’t received new clothes for the holidays.
