Henry Burton was an English Puritan who suffered for criticizing a CoE bishop. Here he reflects on the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man from Luke 16:19-31. The rich man was completely focused on himself and a sensual life. His sympathies couldn’t even cross outside his front door, where a beggar with sores was regularly placed, hoping for some crumbs.
