CW: On: “Elisia is too young” comments
If you are worried about #Elisia because she's only 14 years old, you don't have to.
As Elisia, and Gehlee for that matter, are still Philippine Citizens, they are still under the law of the #Philippines.
Here in the Philippines, underage (below 18) individuals who are already working, especially in the entertainment industry, are protected. Some requirements are:
1. They need to maintain a passing grade for all subjects.
2. They need to attend a minimum number of school days.
3. Their parents have the final say.The Philippine Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE), as well as, the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd), pays close attention to underage talents.
Second reason you shouldn't worry.
These girls from the Philippines were already working in the industry long before they joined Universe Ticket.
* Gehlee is a singer and model.
* Elisia is a child actress, has been singing since she was 6 years old, and a model too. They are not new in the entertainment industry. It is their life. This is what they want. This is their dream.
And their parents are supporting and guiding them.
This is especially true for Elisia. Her family are friends with Philippine celebrities, and her 1st cousin is also a child actor and is debuting in #Ppop and #Kpop as a member of #HOR1ZON (boy group).
They know what they're doing. They no doubt reviewed the contracts they signed and struck a deal that works good for their daughter.
In fact, F&F Entertainment cancelled the 1st concert of UNIS in February citing E-6 visas and academics.
They made this announcement after S01E09--when Elisia secured a spot, and Gehlee almost made it herself. (The staff probably started to check with the Philippine and Korean embassies.)
The Korean embassy reminded them that foreign members need an E-6 visa to work in Korea.
While the Philippine embassy no doubt reminded them that their education comes first before their work.
They'll be fine. Don't worry about them. F&F Entertainment, while they're new in the industry, has already showed they care about their talents and will work with foreign governments/entities as well.
I'm personally more worried if they can handle the intense and gruelling Korean style of training. ^_~ Other than that, school, labour, they're still under Philippine laws and IRR.
I don't know about the Japanese members, I have no idea about laws of Japan on underage workers.
