  1. It's on the way to the swamp I like to roam and stomp in! Have you ordered your copy yet?!

  2. In case you're interested, I've got ~75 copies of each of the 4 issues of Vol. 2 of "Rituals & Declarations" #zine left (Vol. 1 sold out years ago). Something about #Hookland by David Southwell in each issue, and work by many others. £5 each, will ship globally.

The print run for vol 2 (2021/22) was ~2k per issue, so 75 copies left isn't too bad, but those final boxes are now cluttering up my studio, and the contributors' work in those issues deserves to be seen.

Nice set of pictures today! I can feel The Hum along the lines.

Are you familiar with ? I'm getting a similar, nicely haunting vibe here.

    The Vallakin

At the heart of this mysterious county lies the Vallakin, an otherworldly nexus known for the hauntings of a thousand generations. As the portal to the depths of Hookland's arcane history, the Vallakin is a place where the ditch between the seen and the unseen is gossamer-thin, allowing those who dare to enter to traverse the boundary between the tangible and the ethereal.

Journeying through the Vallakin, one is enveloped by an atmosphere thick with the whispers of ancient spirits and the echoes of forgotten tales. The air itself seems to hum with the resonance of folklore, a chorus of myths and legends that have woven themselves into the very landscape. As you traverse this mystical gateway, you may encounter the spectral remnants of bygone eras, the phantoms of historical figures, and the echoes of events that have left an indelible mark on the county's soul.

  6. @hn50 #Hookland knows the spiritual beauty of the pylon. The transcendence of the hum.

  7. The Lament of Ann Penny -- Woman scored and had her revenge, she then threw herself off the cliffs where she haunts to this day.

Please listen and tell me what you think.

    Lyrics:
    (Verse 1)
The shadowed past, time's relentless flow,
Upon these cliffs, boiling seas below.
Where is my heart? What did he do?
The cruel hand of fate, If I only knew.

His vows of love, whispered on the breeze,
He swore his heart, my shelter from the seas.
Set sail one morn, before the morning frost,
Beneath the moonlit skies, his life was lost.

    (Chorus)
Oh, from the depths of my despair,
Love and loss, too hard to bear.
Seven years, I mourned for thee,
Lost my love, taken by the sea.

These haunted cliffs, a spectre in the night,
These shades in the ghostly moon light.
    Along the white cliff-face walls,
    Until the ancient boneyard calls

    (Verse 2)
Wasn’t the sea and I know you lied,
You filled your bed, with your child bride.
Seven years you hid, and lived your life,
You made me suffer, I was your wife!

Grief of loss and then madness,
    Nothing left but, insane sadness,
I found you both, asleep in your room,
I set a fire, it become your tomb.

    (Chorus)
Oh, from the depths of my despair,
Love and loss, too hard to bear.
Seven years, I mourned a lie,
I watched you burn, I watch you die.

These haunted cliffs, a spectre in the night,
These shades in the ghostly moon light.
    Along the white cliff-face walls,
    Until the ancient boneyard calls

    (Verse 3)
To the cliffs, blood on my soul,
I didn’t care, about the lives I stole.
    Madness, deep in my heart,
To the cliffs, right to the start.

The boiling sea, like a roaring flame,
The waves and rocks, they called my name.
Ann Penny they called, into the night,
Off the Cliff I fell, the sea took my life.

  8. Five things I believe in — each of these things are as real to me as the land and air around us:

    1. #Ghosts
    2. #Monsters
    3. #UFOs
    4. #Magic
    5. #Hookland

They influence my life daily, each of these things I have seen, felt, been to and experienced.

  9. "Most first time viewers of had no idea of its promotional purpose, nor of its mockumentary nature. This is among the reasons justifying a rewatch. Unwittingly, The Curse of the Blair Witch became a manual on how uncertainty could be easily weaponised – not just as marketing tool, but as susceptibility to terror."

  10. The term #ghost #train is used for a service run empty in order to hold onto the rights for the journey. But are they called that to disguise discussions of stranger things travelling on the rails?

  11. #Sailors and their loved ones left #offerings to #sea #gods in the hope of a safe return, and full nets. What would someone offer to the #deities of pipe and overflow, and what might they receive in return?

  12. #LiminalSpaces in the #Forest that belongs to The #City
Well, probably. One GPS save tells me this was taken in #Colchester, along a road walled one side by crumbling battlement, old trees gazing over. But I don't remember that… 🤔

  14. At night along the Sewerbank you can see forever… but beware what peers back through the gloom – when you stand above the houses, feet resting on #Bazalgette's gurgling poo-pipes.

  15. There are #doors and there are… doors. Some are mere hatchways of mundanity. But others - often as much by their surroundings as by their own appearance, are #LiminalSpaces, #portals of possibility.

  16. Keep the door closed, it says, it doesn't like the breeze rattling through the house.

  17. Eventually, you turn to leave. You can't live the rest of your life in the glowing heart of a #tree (can you?) But as you turn to go, you find your way blocked. The bare #branches that touched only gently before rear up, green, sharp, and somehow… aggressive.
    What has gone wrong?

  18. Bit of a special #OldEnglish #WordOfTheDay today:

bróðormægen [ ᛒᚱᚩᚦᚩᚱᛗᚫᚷᛖᚾ ] : brothers in magic / family in magic

    bróðor: brother
mægen: strength ; power / magical power

    Pronunciation: files-thefolklore-cafe.ams3.di

This is a title used the users of the deepest of magics, those that are brothers by magics deeper than blood. Family in power, strength and magic.

Those of us who know #Hookland, know we are all bróðormægen.
