  1. How can a knitting book based on Lord of the Rings NOT HAVE HOBBIT VESTS!?!? Lord of the Knits does not have a SINGLE vest pattern even though Samwise Gamgee CLEARLY wears one in the movies!

They have puppets and MITTENS even though the Fellowship didn't even wear mittens - hell, you didn't get them to even wear hats to stay warm!
(Helmet doesn't count that would just freeze your brain worse)

  3. I’d Visit the Shire Tomorrow. Mordor Can Keep Its Property Values.
What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel? When people ask what movie made me want to travel, the answer is easy. It’s The Lord of the Rings. Not because I want to dodge Orcs, get stabbed by Ringwraiths, or

  7. "Isn't it a nice Hobbit?"

    "It's only a freedom spare!"

"Who is kalamine state like that?"

    "He always was stranger."

  8. "You just hate #hobbits because you played #MERP/ #Rolemaster"

AND read the books. Most of them.

Also "wah, RM is HURD, too many rules/tables".

Most rules are OPTIONAL. Most mean you die at the drop of a hat, if you play as most AD&D players do. It's a ROLE play system, not a ROLL play system. Decisions you make, not the rolled dice, mean survival or death. Ok, the rolled die define the SPECIFICS of how bad you die, but there.

Most advanced format of RM is level-less, mostly table-less.

  9. Testing the #Bluesky #bridge. It doesn't seem to be bridging replies so far.

Anyway, I've added a 'barbarian' to my #Godot beginner's project and this vile creature chases after the #hobbits. There is no user input. All interactions are rule-based.

  13. I'm currently blogging a reread of Lord of the Rings 50 years after I first read it. About two posts per month. Here I discuss the significance of it being a sequel to The Hobbit: 50-Year Reread of The Lord of the Rings – 1: A Sequel to The Hobbit – Prospective Cultures

  16. The 'hobbits' mysteriously disappeared 50,000 years ago. Our new study reveals what happened to their home

About 50,000 years ago, humanity lost one of its last surviving hominin cousins, Homo floresiensis (also known as "the hobbit" thanks to its small stature). The cause of its disappearance, after more than a million years living on the isolated volcanic island of Flores, Indonesia, has been a longstanding mystery.

New evidence suggests a period of extreme drought starting about 61,000 years ago may have contributed to the hobbits' disappearance.
