As it happens the biggest genome of all (probably) are plants in the genus Paris, another species that I have just established in the garden. The UK species is not so large, having a genome of 'only' ~40 Gb. It was first recorded by the herbalist William Turner in a single wood my hometown in 1548. It's still there nearly 500 years later! #herbparis #williamturner #morpeth #genomics
