  1. @elasticsoul

You've proven my point - you aren't familiar with conditions in the #prairies or the remote #north.

Calgary to Edmonton is a trivial jaunt, especially because the entire way it's densely developed (for the prairies). I'm talking about trips I take or took regularly, in -35C weather or colder (your heat pump won't work, and you'll have to have the electric resistance #heater going full blast the whole trip - that's 7 kW or so, isn't it? Goodbye, range figures...). Oh, and the #battery heater.

Think: 8 hour drive, during the last four of which you'll pass no human #settlements, much less a fast charger. When you get there, there's no fast charger, either. A standard 120 VAC 15 A plug is all you'll have access to (if you're lucky), so you're gonna be plugged in for a day or two - maybe more? - before you can return.

And then you do the math on the range, and find out you can't even make it that last four hours - you'll run out of juice, and then you'll be dead from hypothermia in 30 minutes if you stay in the car, 10 minutes if you leave the car. Even if you charged up at that last station before the Big Empty, you barely have enough juice to get there given the distance, headwind - 60 km/h is common, and wind resistance, which uses most of your energy, increases with the *cube* of the airspeed you're pushing through - and cold.

I invite you to visit, so you can understand that other peoples' situations differ from yours.

  4. #car #heater not working and #coolant not visible in reservoir but hot engine and cooling fan running for some time after stop... Last mechanic invoice (<250km ago) lists 0,5 l antifreeze.
Heating was working without issues two days ago.

    Surprize coolant leak - yay!

Is it a hose? Is it the radiator? Is the engine toast?

The car was cheap and in relatively good condition. It was driven <10000 km in the last 7 years, so got an oil change and Inspection every ~1500km.

Its surprising how good and reliable my 27 year old #vwgolf works vs. this 17 year old #renaultscenic . I bouht the #vwgolf at age ~23 years with ~35000km and all sorts of plastic parts, ignition coil, light bulbs and other stuff failed shortly after, just due to age. Now the #renaultscenic goes through the same process... Lets hope this phase of finding out what parts did not age well will not lead to an endless rabbit hole or wasted time/money. After all, both cars were 1st owner, garage cars.

  5. I got stuck, troubleshooting my #BTT #BigTreeTech #Octopus 1.1 mainboard, installed in newly assembled #RatRig #V-core #3Dprinter, running #RatOS aka #Klipper.

Both #nozzle (#extruder) #heater and #hotbed one do not warm up. Beyond all doubt (using external power sources and hairdryer) I confirmed that both thermistors, heaters and wiring are ok.

Under warranty, RatRig sent me replacement board, which I configured, flashed with updated firmware and got the same error.
I also tried to redirect the nozzle heater power to another pin (see in the config file at lib.tepewu.pl/f/8f1d29fe05d44c…) where I hooked up the multimeter. Nothing happened, when I set up nozzle temp to 50*C - after timeout I had the same error "extruder is not heating fast enough", thus klipper shutdown.

I cannot believe to have such a bad luck to got two boards with the same hardware fault (especially that steppers and hotbed probe work perfectly), so it is something I do not know - and I run out of ideas.

Please, somebody suggest something new. Hjalp.

The "human" part will be a direct response to machine generated content, which is going to flood us with trash this year.

The "relatability" will come from the ability for the audience to understand the content and apply it, a measure of clarity and tone.
