  1. An article in #FaroutMagazine got me thinking, but not about the two records discussed. I'm enough of a #vinyl nerd to already know those.

No. What it got me thinking about was the whole idea of modern
    #rarity.

When I first started collecting records in the seventies most collectors were looking for
#music they could hear on the radio or see in the major record shops.

That's why the scene grew. There was an entry point for ordinary guys. I remember looking for old
    #blues records.

    Then in the
#eighties it was #funk and soul that became rare. In my memory it really grew in the eighties, both in terms of quantity and in terms of range.

    There were so many soul
#records especially that were hard to find. Even minor hits by artists like #Vicki Anderson were worth £15 to £25.

    Then later spiritual
#jazz by artists like #EddieGale and #HarryWhittaker were worth hundreds. The upper range was around a thousand.

Now, no music is rare. It's always there somewhere on the
    #Internet.
