Any #romani people here? I want to depict romani ppl in a #scifi #solarpunk novel. At the same time I want to avoid both romanticizing and stereotyping. There's a long history of media doing both. If you have any advice on how to be respectful and cool about it, that would be great.
So far my idea is for the romani to keep being traveling, but instead of coaches there will be plasma vacuum zeppelins. I want them to have colorfully painted gondolas. I also want an old woman to correct a false prophecy, calling on a thousand of years of cultural experience in divination vs wannabies gadjos.
Is that okay? Any suggestions? Is the word #gypsy offensive? Do you maybe have any resources on how to actually be respectful?

"Gypsy" is a song by British-American #rock band #FleetwoodMac. The song was written by #StevieNicks around 1979; the earliest demo recordings were made in early 1980 with Tom Moncrieff for possible inclusion on her debut solo album #BellaDonna. When Nicks' close friend Robin Anderson died of #leukemia, the song took on a new significance and Nicks dedicated the song to her in future performances. "#Gypsy" was the second single release.
