Sunday afternoon gravitational wave. Both @LIGO detectors and the Virgo detector have today identified another gravitational-wave candidate.
S241110br – if real – originates from the merger of two black holes at a (luminosity) distance of around 2.9 billion light-years.
The direction of origin could be narrowed down to an area of 244 square degrees. This corresponds approximately to the area of 1100 average full moons.

The tests validated the cooling technology, the inverted pendulum principle and the ultra-sensitive vibration sensors. Encouraging results for this prototype for detecting #gravitational waves, the only one of its kind in the world!
