  2. Honestly the lovely app icon by itself already is reason enough to switch from #Gram to #Zed as code editor.

  3. Just wanted to take a moment to shout out #gram. codeberg.org/GramEditor/gram

I think it is incredible the effort they have been putting in to weed out all the LLM cruft that was in zed while improving the UX, at least for my workflow, and keeping almost all the useful features.

I'm really looking forward to when they figure out how they want to tackle an alternative to zed's remote collab.

Maybe I will contribute to gram once drift-type gets good enough to replace the google library in heliboard.

  4. If you're using the Gram code editor and are looking for a more convenient way to build extensions for it with Nix... I made something.

  5. A Nutritionist Uses the ‘Triple 30’ Rule to Get Enough Protein, Fiber

  6. I was a VS Code user for a few years. But since trying Zed I have not switched back.

Many don't like the AI integrations which is at the core of Zed and there is a fork called Gram with all the AI ripped out. I tried it for a while, but Zed development moves fast and Gram just fell behind quickly.

  7. I like the functionality of Zed editor, but it's crammed with AI "features", telemetry, proprietary components, and other unsavory bits. Gram is a fork that strips all of that out, and I'm loving it. #gram codeberg.org/GramEditor/gram

  8. In my search for a replacement for VS Code I'm currently looking at Gram, the Zed fork.

It's mostly doing the job pretty well, although it obviously doesn't have the same offering of extensions (for better or worse).

One big issue is that it's somewhat locked to LLDB for debugging C++ & friends, and LLDB is really slow on windows for some reason.

Might still run it more on the Linux box though.

  9. Current setup:

IDEs: #Gram Editor @krig Fantastic editor, Zed without the AI crap, more control on your extensions and LSPs.

CLion: The University where I teach makes you choose between Jetbrains or VisualStudio. Not touching MS products so CLion it is.

    Current languages:

    #Vala by @vala_lang
    #Zig by @andrewrk
#python #c #cpp. I'm teaching stuff with these at the University.

Build systems #meson #cmake and #zig depending on the project.

I've been enjoying this arrangement for a while 😄.

  10. Finished my first day using Gram (Zed fork) as a replacement for VSCode and I think it's already become my daily-driver.

There's GDScript support via a third-party extension, which integrates well with Godot's gdscript server: github.com/GDQuest/zed-gdscript

  11. After moving from #Zed to #Gram as my main code editor, my muscle memory still has to adjust to the different CLI name. Configuring an alias feels counterproductive though.
