Trump is violent and lusts after violence because he thinks it makes him look badass and brave, but he is also a huge coward who never, ever endangers himself with the violence he perpetrates or spews. Whenever he feels belittled or humiliated, he lashes out in a kneejerk reflex to protect himself and invalidate any sense that he isn't perfect and also as a deterrent to future humiliation because narcissism. In other words, he is thoroughly insecure and afraid that anyone will see the vulnerable, fearful, highly imperfect man-child he actually is.

He is the exact opposite of the role model or hero he lyingly assures himself he is. Trump, like the rest of the GOP, only plays a hero on TV and in their own minds. Pitiful, sad!!

"One of the surest signs of the numbing effect Donald Trump has had on the nation: On Thursday, two people who have been the target of his criminal violence testified before juries about it, and almost no one pointed out how remarkable that was. In a civil case in New York City, E. Jean Carroll gave her second day of testimony, accusing Trump of raping her, likely in 1996. At the same time, former vice president, Mike Pence, testified to a grand jury about Trump sending a murderous mob to intimidate him on January 6, 2021.

These two crimes happened 25 years apart, but they are linked by one unchanging rule: Trump believes people he sees as beneath him should submit without question to his whims. And if they don’t, he feels violence should be used to bring them in line.

Trump is a massive coward, so sometimes his violence feels muted in the public conversation. When we think of violent men, we usually picture men who take personal risks when they lash out. For instance, the Proud Boys get their asses whipped plenty when they get into street brawls. Trump won’t risk his hair getting mussed, much less actual injury to himself.

But that doesn’t mean he’s not violent. He just seeks ways to inflict violence without risk to himself. By attacking much smaller women, for instance. Or sucker-punching his teenage son. Or sending cops to attack non-violent protesters. Or sending a mob of his supporters to storm the Capitol while he hides in the White House.

Trump’s violence is one of the many reasons he’s such an evil man. But I have to admit that his cowardice is what makes him so contemptible. He thinks violence makes him manly, but in fact, he’s pathetic. I’ve long thought his supporters understand full well he is sociopathic, and they don’t mind. But they really do seem to think he’s a “fighter,” which…no. He’s a coward who only punches down, which these two crimes illustrate perfectly."
