A quotation from Robert Louis Stevenson

There are two things that men should never weary of, goodness and humility; we get none too much of them in this rough world among cold, proud people.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894) Scottish essayist, novelist, poet
Novel (1886), Kidnapped, ch. 16 “The Lad with the Silver Button: Across Morven”

A Stranger Didn’t Change My Life… But This Changed the Way I See People ❤️

What’s a moment when a stranger completely restores your faith in people?

I don’t remember one dramatic moment when a stranger completely restored my faith in humanity.

For me, it has been something much simpler.

Small acts of kindness.

Someone helping without expecting anything in return.

Someone guiding me when I was confused.

Someone treating me with respect when they had absolutely no reason to.

These moments may look ordinary to the person doing them…

But they can mean something completely different to the person receiving them.

And that’s what I’ve learned:

You don’t always need to do something extraordinary to make a difference in someone’s life.

Sometimes, a few kind words are enough.

Sometimes, helping someone for two minutes is enough.

Sometimes, simply treating another human being with dignity is enough.

We often hear about the negative things happening around us, and it’s easy to start believing that people are becoming less caring.

But kindness is still everywhere.

It just doesn’t always make the news.

Maybe a stranger doesn’t need to completely change your life.

Maybe they just need to remind you that good people still exist. ❤️

And perhaps one day, we can be that stranger for someone else.

💭 Have you ever experienced a small act of kindness from a stranger that you still remember?

🇮🇹 Italy: Garbage workers help woman find €1 million Jackpot. ✨

A woman who won €1 million mistakenly threw her lottery ticket in a trash bin in Bitonto, southern Italy — prompting her local sanitation company to launch an hourslong search.
It took the workers one day of "working in conditions that were anything but pleasant" to find the ticket, Toscano told Corriere Della Sera.

A quotation from John Quincy Adams

I have, and must have, confidence in the possible virtue of human nature; and although in entertaining this idea, a man must, and will sometimes, be disappointed, yet if it is coupled with a sound judgment and close observations, I believe he could make fewer great mistakes, than one whose principle is the universal rascality of the species.

John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) US President (1825-29)
Letter (1809-06-22) to William Eustis

I'm at the launderette. It's really busy. A dryer finished so someone emptied it to use the dryer, the person who owns the clothes isn't here though. 3 ladies are chatting and folding the clothes. No one knows each other. It's all rather lovely.

Who knew that sitting in the launderette showed you a sweet side of life.

Also there's a man here unsure how to do the wash, he asked me for help, and promised he wasn't a weirdo. He's not a weirdo and now lots of the women are helping him too.

You are spread across the world and your interests, enthusiasms and views are wide and varied. However not so varied as to include any negativity, hatred or bigotry. I am always uplifted by your posts. Thank you all. You bring joy.

That naughty teeny tiny dog Ebby took off this morning as we were out walking, freaked me out. She’s so little she could hide behind a blade of grass & not be seen! George stayed by my side the whole time I searched for her.
A truck came down the road driven by a local I hadn’t met before. Tells me his name is Brownie, big (very) fella with a scar on his forehead. He knows Ebby & asks if I’ve searched his property & in we go, no she wasn’t there. Brownie gets in a little buggy & says he’ll check down the road one way & I go back the other way towards home. Very near home there she is coming out of the bush looking very pleased with herself. Panic over, heart rate decreases but that is my nightmare scenario of maybe having to tell an owner I’ve lost their much loved pet. I pick her up & tell her off then walk back down to tell Brownie & to thank him. George has stayed glued to my side all through it. He’s a good boy - Ebby not so much 😏 - she will be on a lead tomorrow morning for the last walk & won’t like it. #HouseSit #PetSit #CountryFolk #GoodPeople.

The Tram Driver Gave My Autistic 4 Year Old A Shout Out On The Speaker

Then as we were leaving the platform he did one final speaker announcement saying "Bye little man, take care of yourself"

Just had a huge panic attack! Left my bag with laptop in it on the back of a shopping trolley. Got all the way home before I realised. Rushed back to the mall and bag nowhere to be found. About to give up when my name comes on the PA. Sprint to the mall office and hear that a kind woman found it and brought it in. Didn't leave her name, so I can't thank her but I can spread her goodness and tell everyone my story. Good people are still out there!

I get home from work one day, hop off my bike and crack open a beer. Suddenly, I get a phone call. Complete stranger tells me that he has my wallet. I get defensive and we start arguing. He then tells me to check my bag. I reluctantly do so and realise my wallet is nowhere to be found. I slink back to the phone and apologise profusely and the guy is fully understanding. In these moments, you realise the work you still have to do on yourself and how good some people are.
