This post talks about the migration process

  9. So, nach viel Arbeit mit der Musikbibliothek habe ich jetzt endlich #gonic als Subsonic Server zum Laufen, um Musik self-hosted zu streamen :3 Danke nochmal an @NikTheDusky :D

  10. Setup gonic, holy shit this is way nicer and quicker than Funkwhale, i will still host funkwhale for my users but i will be using gonic with subsonic clients like Symfonium and Feishin webui for my music :)

Funkwhales custom subsonic implementation is very lacking and buggy imho, their webui is ok

  11. Recently, with a ton of hand holding and help, I managed to put together a working port of #gonic for #openbsd that got accepted into their ports system!

Tonight, I got a chance to install it on one of my own computers as something more than a test.

It's my first package, and I still am having that excited "I DID A THING: feeling.

When the next release of OpenBSD happens, you'll be able to just pkg_add yourself a working music streaming platform.

Enjoy, & give some $BIGMUSICCORP the finger.

  12. @ebarrett

I was fiddling around with #gonic on #openbsd, and it appears to build and run!

    github.com/sentriz/gonic

I saw that you did the work on the navidrome port (which I currently use and think is awesome, BTW)

They look really similar in how they do their thing, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in helping me get a packaged version together?

Getting a *sonic style server that works on both files and tags seems so much easier than tweaking id3s on my entire music collection. :)

  13. Used mp3tag to export all embedded album covers in my music collection to cover.jpg files in each folder, and now gonic can see them and I have album covers in my personal Spotify :partyparrot:

  14. today i configured and stood up my music server (i went with #gonic because i previously faced issues with Navidrome) in #NixOS without too much trouble!

im beginning to understand how it all comes together, slowly
ive read so much theory on it, but really learning through experience and example is the only thing that seems to work... it didn't help that i also an n00b at nginx, systemd, and ufw, but now i kinda see how they all come together! :3
