An interesting reflection by archaeologist Gillian Carr on the difference between legacy and heritage: "To turn something into heritage is an active choice, a decision about what is of value and what a community is happy to embrace as a part of its identity. What remains as a legacy and what is chosen as heritage makes a statement about who you are or want to be and how you are happy to be seen and judged by others".
