A 25 años del 11-S, Guantánamo, la pena de muerte y la falta de rendición de cuentas mantienen abierto el debate sobre los derechos humanos en Estados Unidos.

El 11 de septiembre de 2026 marca 25 años de los atentados terroristas que dejaron cerca de 3 mil muertos en Estados Unidos y que desencadenaron una transformación profunda de la política de seguridad del país. Un cuarto de siglo después, el legado de la llamada “guerra contra el terror” continúa asociado a detenciones indefinidas, tortura, procesos militares cuestionados y falta de rendición de cuentas.
La revisión de ese periodo adquiere especial relevancia después de que Estados Unidos celebró el 4 de julio de 2026 el 250 aniversario de la Declaración de Independencia, cuyo principio de que todas las personas nacen iguales y tienen derecho a la vida, la libertad y la búsqueda de la felicidad fue reivindicado por el presidente Donald Trump.
La paradoja entre esos principios y algunas de las políticas adoptadas en nombre de la seguridad nacional vuelve a colocar en el centro del debate el cumplimiento de los derechos humanos, particularmente ante la permanencia de detenidos en Guantánamo y el uso de la pena de muerte.
El 11-S y el giro de la política antiterrorista
Después de los atentados del 11 de septiembre de 2001, el gobierno de George W. Bush declaró la denominada “guerra contra el terror”. El Congreso aprobó pocos días después la Autorización para el Uso de la Fuerza Militar, con la que amplió las facultades del gobierno para emprender acciones contra los responsables de los ataques y sus organizaciones.
La respuesta estadounidense derivó en operaciones militares en Afganistán e Irak y en un sistema de detenciones que incluyó centros secretos administrados por la Agencia Central de Inteligencia (CIA), interrogatorios coercitivos y personas recluidas durante años sin cargos ni juicio.
Las denuncias sobre tortura, desapariciones forzadas y otras violaciones al derecho internacional se convirtieron en uno de los aspectos más controvertidos de la política estadounidense posterior al 11-S.
Guantánamo mantiene abierto el capítulo de la “guerra contra el terror”
Veinticinco años después de los atentados, la prisión instalada en la base naval estadounidense de Guantánamo, en Cuba, continúa operando.
De acuerdo con el balance citado por Amnistía Internacional, 15 hombres permanecen detenidos. Algunos llevan más de dos décadas bajo custodia estadounidense y otros enfrentan procesos ante comisiones militares, mientras existen casos de personas sometidas a detención indefinida sin juicio.
La organización ha cuestionado que el sistema de Guantánamo mantenga mecanismos de detención incompatibles con estándares internacionales de derechos humanos, particularmente por la posibilidad de encarcelamiento indefinido sin cargos ni juicio y por las deficiencias señaladas en los procesos militares.
El caso de Guantánamo también mantiene una dimensión jurídica relacionada con los atentados de 2001: la búsqueda de justicia para las víctimas se ha desarrollado durante décadas en procedimientos cuya legalidad y garantías procesales han sido objeto de controversia.
Pena de muerte: otra contradicción pendiente
El derecho a la vida constituye otro de los puntos de tensión en el debate sobre los derechos humanos en Estados Unidos.
En 2025, el país registró 47 ejecuciones, la cifra más alta en más de 15 años y la mayor desde 2009. El incremento se produjo pese a que el respaldo social a la pena de muerte se encuentra en niveles históricamente bajos.
La situación contrasta con la proclamación presidencial del 250 aniversario, en la que Trump reivindicó el derecho a la vida como uno de los principios fundamentales asociados con la fundación estadounidense.
La pena capital continúa vigente en diversos estados y forma parte también de algunos procedimientos relacionados con detenidos de Guantánamo. La aplicación de esta sanción mantiene abierto un debate internacional sobre su compatibilidad con el derecho a la vida y las garantías judiciales.
Los derechos humanos frente a las crisis de seguridad
La discusión no comenzó con el 11-S. A lo largo de su historia, Estados Unidos ha enfrentado críticas por restringir libertades civiles durante periodos considerados de emergencia nacional.
El juez de la Corte Suprema William Brennan advirtió en 1987 que, después de cada crisis de seguridad, el país terminaba reconociendo que algunas restricciones a las libertades civiles habían sido innecesarias, pero también señalaba la dificultad de evitar que el patrón se repitiera ante una nueva emergencia.
El 11-S se convirtió precisamente en una de esas coyunturas. La dimensión de los ataques y la conmoción provocada por la muerte de miles de personas generaron una respuesta de seguridad que modificó durante décadas las políticas estadounidenses de inteligencia, detención, operaciones militares y lucha contra el terrorismo.
La promesa de 1776 y la deuda de derechos humanos
El debate adquiere una dimensión simbólica en el año en que Estados Unidos conmemora 250 años de su Declaración de Independencia.
En su proclamación del aniversario, Trump reivindicó la igualdad y los derechos a la vida, la libertad y la búsqueda de la felicidad como principios fundacionales del país. También presentó la nueva etapa estadounidense como una época de recuperación de la soberanía, defensa de las libertades y fortalecimiento del orden nacional.
Sin embargo, organizaciones defensoras de derechos humanos sostienen que esos principios siguen enfrentando contradicciones dentro y fuera de Estados Unidos.
El cuestionamiento no se limita a la situación de Guantánamo. Incluye la pena de muerte, las condiciones de detención, el uso de la fuerza y la falta de investigaciones y sanciones por abusos cometidos durante la “guerra contra el terror”.
¿Qué deja el 11-S 25 años después?
El cuarto de siglo transcurrido desde los atentados coloca a Estados Unidos ante una revisión de las decisiones adoptadas después de aquella crisis.
El desafío planteado por organizaciones de derechos humanos consiste en determinar si la seguridad nacional puede garantizarse sin abandonar las obligaciones derivadas del derecho internacional y sin convertir las excepciones adoptadas durante una emergencia en prácticas permanentes.
La permanencia de Guantánamo, la continuidad de la pena de muerte y la ausencia de rendición de cuentas por abusos cometidos durante la “guerra contra el terror” muestran que el debate iniciado después del 11-S permanece abierto. –sn–

11-S: 25 años del ataque que cambió al mundo
A 25 años del 11-S, así ocurrieron los atentados contra las Torres Gemelas, quiénes fueron los responsables, cuántas personas murieron y cuál fue el impacto para México.

El 11 de septiembre de 2001, cuatro aviones comerciales fueron secuestrados en Estados Unidos por 19 integrantes de Al Qaeda. Dos impactaron las Torres Gemelas del World Trade Center en Nueva York, otro golpeó el Pentágono y el cuarto cayó en Pensilvania después de que pasajeros y tripulantes intentaran recuperar el control de la aeronave.
En menos de dos horas, Estados Unidos sufrió el mayor atentado terrorista de su historia. Murieron 2 mil 977 personas, sin contar a los 19 secuestradores, y miles más resultaron heridas. El ataque modificó la seguridad aérea, la política exterior estadounidense, las relaciones internacionales y la vida cotidiana de millones de personas.
En 2026 se cumplen 25 años de aquella mañana que convirtió a Nueva York en el centro de una tragedia transmitida prácticamente en tiempo real a todo el mundo.
Qué pasó la mañana del 11 de septiembre
El primer avión, el vuelo 11 de American Airlines, despegó de Boston con destino a Los Ángeles. Fue secuestrado y, a las 8:46 horas, se estrelló contra la Torre Norte del World Trade Center.
El impacto ocurrió entre los pisos 93 y 99. El avión, un Boeing 767, transportaba combustible para un vuelo transcontinental. La colisión destruyó una parte considerable de la estructura exterior, provocó incendios y dejó atrapadas a numerosas personas que se encontraban por encima del punto de impacto.
Diecisiete minutos después, a las 9:03 horas, el vuelo 175 de United Airlines golpeó la Torre Sur.
La segunda colisión eliminó cualquier duda sobre la naturaleza de lo que estaba ocurriendo. No se trataba de un accidente aéreo. Estados Unidos estaba bajo un ataque coordinado.
La Torre Sur se derrumbó a las 9:59 horas. La Torre Norte cayó a las 10:28.
Miles de personas que habían conseguido salir de los edificios corrieron por las calles de Manhattan mientras una enorme nube de polvo y escombros cubría el sur de la isla.
El ataque tampoco terminó en Nueva York.
A las 9:37 horas, el vuelo 77 de American Airlines impactó contra el Pentágono, sede del Departamento de Defensa de Estados Unidos, en Arlington, Virginia.

El cuarto avión, el vuelo 93 de United Airlines, había despegado de Newark rumbo a San Francisco. Después del secuestro, varios pasajeros y tripulantes supieron mediante llamadas telefónicas que otros aviones habían sido utilizados contra edificios en Nueva York y Washington.
Los pasajeros intentaron recuperar el control de la aeronave. El vuelo 93 terminó estrellándose en un campo cercano a Shanksville, Pensilvania, a las 10:03 horas.
Su objetivo exacto no pudo determinarse de manera definitiva, aunque las investigaciones concluyeron que los secuestradores pretendían utilizar el avión contra otro símbolo del poder político estadounidense, con el Capitolio entre las posibilidades consideradas.
Cómo fue posible el ataque
Los 19 secuestradores formaban parte de la operación organizada por Al Qaeda, la organización encabezada por Osama bin Laden.
La investigación de la Comisión del 11-S estableció que la operación fue resultado de años de planificación y que Khalid Sheikh Mohammed desempeñó un papel central en el diseño del complot.
Los atacantes aprovecharon una vulnerabilidad que en aquel momento parecía poco probable: utilizar aviones comerciales como armas contra objetivos ubicados en territorio estadounidense.
Quince de los 19 secuestradores eran ciudadanos de Arabia Saudita; otros procedían de Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Egipto y Líbano.

Varios de ellos ingresaron legalmente a Estados Unidos y recibieron entrenamiento relacionado con aviación. Mohamed Atta, egipcio considerado el líder operativo de los secuestradores, fue uno de los principales responsables de la coordinación del ataque.
La operación también expuso fallas de inteligencia. Las agencias estadounidenses habían recibido información previa sobre amenazas de Al Qaeda, pero no consiguieron integrar los indicios ni convertirlos en una advertencia capaz de impedir el ataque.
La Comisión Nacional sobre los Ataques Terroristas contra Estados Unidos concluyó que hubo problemas de comunicación, coordinación y análisis dentro del aparato de seguridad estadounidense.
Las Torres Gemelas y el World Trade Center
Las Torres Gemelas eran el símbolo de un complejo financiero que concentraba oficinas, empresas, restaurantes y miles de trabajadores.
El World Trade Center no era únicamente un conjunto de edificios. Representaba el peso económico de Nueva York y la conexión comercial de Estados Unidos con el resto del mundo.
La mañana del ataque, miles de personas se encontraban dentro del complejo.
La mayoría de quienes estaban por debajo de las zonas de impacto pudo evacuar. Sin embargo, quienes se encontraban por encima de los puntos donde los aviones golpearon las torres quedaron prácticamente sin posibilidades de salir.

El incendio provocado por el combustible de los aviones y la destrucción de elementos estructurales deterioraron progresivamente los edificios.
Las investigaciones posteriores concluyeron que los impactos y los incendios provocaron daños suficientes para que las estructuras perdieran su capacidad de soportar las cargas que tenían encima.
El colapso de las Torres Gemelas produjo una devastación adicional en las calles y edificios cercanos.
A las 17:20 horas de aquel día también se derrumbó el World Trade Center 7, un edificio que no fue golpeado directamente por un avión. Las investigaciones posteriores atribuyeron su caída a los daños provocados por los escombros y a incendios prolongados.
Quiénes fueron las víctimas
El balance oficial de los atentados es de 2 mil 977 víctimas mortales, sin contar a los 19 terroristas.
De ellas, 2 mil 753 murieron en Nueva York; 184 en el ataque contra el Pentágono y 40 eran pasajeros y tripulantes del vuelo 93 que murieron cuando el avión se estrelló en Pensilvania.
Entre las víctimas había ciudadanos de más de 90 países.
También murieron integrantes de los servicios de emergencia que acudieron a las Torres Gemelas cuando la mayoría de las personas intentaba escapar.
El Departamento de Bomberos de Nueva York perdió a 343 integrantes. También murieron policías de Nueva York y de la Autoridad Portuaria de Nueva York y Nueva Jersey.
Las víctimas no fueron únicamente quienes murieron ese día.

Miles de bomberos, policías, trabajadores de rescate, voluntarios y personas que vivían o trabajaban cerca de la zona cero estuvieron expuestos durante meses a polvo, humo y sustancias tóxicas.
Con el paso de los años, numerosas personas desarrollaron enfermedades relacionadas con su exposición al ambiente contaminado de la zona del desastre.
Por ello, el impacto humano del 11-S continúa décadas después.
Mexicanos entre las víctimas
México tuvo una relación particularmente dolorosa con los atentados.
Entre las víctimas hubo 15 mexicanos, de acuerdo con registros oficiales citados por autoridades mexicanas. Sin embargo, durante años existieron diferencias en los registros porque algunas personas eran migrantes sin documentación regular y no todas pudieron ser identificadas mediante restos humanos.
Entre los mexicanos relacionados con el ataque se encuentran Antonio Meléndez, Antonio Javier Álvarez, Leobardo López Pascual, Juan Ortega Campos y Martín Morales Zempoaltécatl, cuyos nombres forman parte de los registros del Memorial del 11-S.
También se ha documentado la muerte de otros connacionales como Alicia Acevedo Carranza, Juan Romero Orozco, Víctor Antonio Martínez Pastrana, Fernando Jiménez Molina, Germán Castillo García, José Guevara González, José Manuel Contreras Fernández, Jorge Octavio Santos Anaya, Margarito Casillas y Norberto Hernández.

Puebla quedó especialmente vinculada a esta historia. Entre los mexicanos fallecidos había varios originarios de ese estado.
Uno de los casos más conocidos es el de Leobardo López Pascual, originario de Puebla, quien trabajaba en el restaurante Windows on the World, ubicado en la parte superior de la Torre Norte.
Su historia representa también la dimensión migratoria de la tragedia: mexicanos que habían viajado a Estados Unidos en busca de trabajo terminaron formando parte de una lista internacional de víctimas.
México frente al 11-S
El atentado ocurrió durante el primer año de gobierno de Vicente Fox Quesada, en una etapa en la que México y Estados Unidos intentaban profundizar su relación política y económica.
El canciller mexicano era Jorge G. Castañeda Gutman.
Fox expresó sus condolencias al pueblo estadounidense y condenó los ataques. El gobierno mexicano también manifestó su disposición a cooperar contra el terrorismo dentro de los límites establecidos por la legislación nacional y los principios de política exterior.

Pero la respuesta mexicana abrió un debate político.
México mantenía una tradición diplomática basada en la solución pacífica de controversias y en la no intervención. Al mismo tiempo, compartía una frontera de más de 3 mil kilómetros con Estados Unidos, una intensa relación comercial y una población mexicana de millones de personas viviendo en territorio estadounidense.
Castañeda sostuvo que México no enviaría tropas a una eventual operación militar estadounidense, una posición que generó tensiones políticas en Washington y también críticas dentro de México.
El debate llegó al Congreso de la Unión, donde legisladores cuestionaron cuál debía ser la posición mexicana frente a la respuesta de Estados Unidos.
México, además, era entonces integrante no permanente del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas, lo que colocó al gobierno de Fox en una posición particularmente delicada.
El 12 de septiembre de 2001, el Consejo de Seguridad aprobó la resolución 1368, que condenó los atentados. Posteriormente, el 28 de septiembre, aprobó por unanimidad la resolución 1373, que estableció medidas internacionales contra el financiamiento y apoyo a organizaciones terroristas.
México tuvo que equilibrar su relación estratégica con Washington con su tradición diplomática.
El impacto en la frontera y la migración
El 11-S también modificó la vida de millones de mexicanos que tenían vínculos con Estados Unidos.
La frontera norte experimentó nuevas medidas de seguridad. Los controles aeroportuarios cambiaron de manera radical y los procesos migratorios adquirieron una dimensión de seguridad nacional que antes no tenían.
La relación bilateral también perdió temporalmente parte del impulso que había adquirido al inicio del gobierno de Fox.
Antes de los atentados, México y Estados Unidos negociaban asuntos como migración y un posible acuerdo de trabajadores temporales.
Después del 11-S, la seguridad pasó al primer plano.
El tema migratorio dejó de ser abordado únicamente como un asunto laboral y social para relacionarse cada vez más con controles fronterizos, seguridad nacional y lucha contra el terrorismo.
Para México, el cambio tuvo consecuencias económicas y humanas porque millones de familias dependían de la relación con Estados Unidos.
George W. Bush y el inicio de una nueva era
El presidente estadounidense durante los atentados era George W. Bush, quien llevaba apenas unos meses en la Casa Blanca.
Su gobierno respondió con una política exterior completamente distinta a la que había prevalecido antes del ataque.
Estados Unidos identificó a Al Qaeda como responsable y exigió al régimen talibán de Afganistán entregar a Osama bin Laden y a otros integrantes de la organización.
El 7 de octubre de 2001 comenzó la intervención militar estadounidense en Afganistán.
La llamada guerra contra el terrorismo se convirtió en el eje de la política exterior de Washington.
En los años siguientes se crearon nuevas estructuras de seguridad, se ampliaron las facultades de inteligencia y vigilancia y se endurecieron los controles de entrada a Estados Unidos.
El Departamento de Seguridad Nacional fue creado en 2002.
El aeropuerto que los estadounidenses conocían como un espacio de tránsito cambió para siempre. Las revisiones, restricciones de equipaje, controles de identidad y protocolos de seguridad se transformaron en parte cotidiana de los viajes internacionales.
Del 11-S a Irak
Los efectos políticos del atentado fueron más allá de Afganistán.
En 2003, Estados Unidos encabezó la invasión de Irak, aunque el gobierno de Saddam Hussein no había sido responsable de los ataques del 11 de septiembre.

México, que continuaba formando parte del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, enfrentó entonces otra presión de Washington.
El gobierno de Fox no apoyó una resolución que autorizara la invasión de Irak.
La relación entre México y Estados Unidos quedó marcada por aquella diferencia y por el debate sobre hasta dónde debía llegar la cooperación mexicana con Washington después del 11-S.
Osama bin Laden y el cierre de un ciclo
Osama bin Laden permaneció prófugo durante casi una década.
El 2 de mayo de 2011, fuerzas estadounidenses lo localizaron y mataron durante una operación en Abbottabad, Pakistán.
Su muerte no terminó con las consecuencias del 11-S.
Al Qaeda perdió capacidad operativa, pero el terrorismo yihadista internacional se transformó y dio paso a nuevas organizaciones y conflictos.
Afganistán también permaneció durante años como escenario de guerra.
En agosto de 2021, dos décadas después del ataque, Estados Unidos concluyó su retirada militar de Afganistán.
Un cuarto de siglo después
En 2026, el 11-S ya pertenece a la memoria histórica de una generación que nació después de los atentados.
La conmemoración de los 25 años ocurre mientras Estados Unidos continúa enfrentando debates sobre seguridad, migración, terrorismo, vigilancia y polarización política.

El Memorial y Museo del 11 de Septiembre conserva los nombres de las víctimas y mantiene como centro de la ceremonia anual la lectura de sus nombres.
La memoria también se ha convertido en una forma de explicar lo ocurrido a quienes no lo vivieron.
El desafío consiste en recordar el ataque sin reducirlo únicamente a las imágenes de los aviones contra las torres. Detrás de aquellas imágenes estuvieron miles de vidas, familias, trabajadores, bomberos, policías, migrantes y ciudadanos de decenas de países.
México estuvo entre ellos.

And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse."

Here's a detail that should have been on the front page of every newspaper: Larry Silverstein signed the lease for the World Trade Center just six weeks before 9/11.
Six weeks.
And what did he do almost immediately after signing that lease? He negotiated a massive insurance policy — $3.55 billion in coverage, with a clause specifically covering terrorism.
The previous insurance on the property was roughly half that amount. Silverstein reportedly insisted on the terrorism clause. And after the attacks, he went to court arguing that because two planes hit two towers, he should be paid twice — nearly $7 billion.
A man leases a property six weeks before its destruction, quadruples the insurance, adds terrorism coverage, and then argues for a double payout. In any other context, investigators would call that a motive.
The Mastermind in a Cave
The official story tells us that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged "mastermind" of 9/11, coordinated the entire operation from a cave in Afghanistan using a phone and a laptop.
A man on dialysis. In a cave. In one of the most remote regions on Earth. Directing the most sophisticated terrorist attack in history, coordinating 19 hijackers across the United States, managing flight schools, finances, and logistics — all from a cave.
Meanwhile, the hijackers allegedly brought down the World Trade Center with box cutters. Utility knives. Against trained pilots and crew. And they supposedly overpowered the passengers on four separate flights.
If you believe that, you also believe that a passport belonging to one of the hijackers — Satam al-Suqami — survived the fireball explosion that supposedly cremated him, flew out of his pocket, and landed intact on the street blocks away, ready to be found by investigators.
The bodies of hundreds of victims were never recovered. But the hijacker's passport? Pristine.
The President Who Knew
On the morning of September 11, President George W. Bush was at Emma E. Booker Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida, reading "The Pet Goat" to a group of second-graders.
He was informed that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. He stayed in the classroom for another five to seven minutes.
Later, in December 2001 and again in January 2002, Bush claimed he saw the first plane hit the tower on television before entering the classroom. "I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower," he said.
But here's the problem: no cameras were trained on the World Trade Center at the time of the first impact. No live footage of the first plane hitting the North Tower existed until much later. The first crash was not broadcast live.
So how did Bush see it?
Either he was lying, or he had prior knowledge. His spokesman later called it a "mistaken recollection".

$2.3 trillion. Missing. Unaccounted for. The day before the Pentagon was hit.
The following day, a plane — or something — struck the Pentagon. And the very section of the building that was hit? The area where the accounting and financial records were kept.
The missing money? The records that might have explained it? Destroyed.

At most plane crashes around the world, you find bodies, seats, luggage, engine parts, landing gear — debris scattered across a wide area. At the Pentagon, the official story claims the plane completely disintegrated on impact, vaporized by the heat of the explosion.
But if the plane vaporized, why were there no bodies? Why no plane parts? Why did witnesses describe a missile or a military aircraft?
And why did the government fight so hard to keep the footage secret?
The Dancing Israelis
On the morning of September 11, five men were arrested in Liberty State Park, New Jersey. They had been videotaping the attacks — and witnesses reported they were celebrating, "dancing" as the towers burned.
They worked for a company called Urban Moving Systems, which the FBI later determined was a Mossad front.
They were detained, interrogated, and eventually deported. The official explanation? They were just "celebrating" — nothing to see here.
But if five men with cameras and a Mossad cover company were positioned to film the attacks before they happened, that suggests foreknowledge. And foreknowledge suggests involvement.
The Passport and the Phone Call

9/11: The "Official Story" Is a Fairy Tale for Adults
Two planes. Three buildings. A trillion-dollar accounting error. A passport that survived a fireball. If you believe the government's version, you'll believe anything.
Three Towers, Two Planes, One Impossible Physics Problem
Let's start with the simplest fact that no one in the mainstream media wants to explain: on September 11, 2001, two planes hit two buildings, but three buildings fell down.
World Trade Center Building 7 was a 47-story skyscraper that was not hit by any plane. It suffered only minor fires and superficial damage. Yet at 5:20 PM that afternoon, it collapsed into its own footprint at virtually free-fall speed — the signature of a controlled demolition.
Building 7 housed the offices of the Secret Service, the CIA, and — most crucially — the US Securities and Exchange Commission. All the files for approximately 3,000 to 4,000 SEC cases, including the Enron scandal, were destroyed in that collapse.
Enron. The biggest corporate fraud in American history. The investigation files. Gone.
And what did the 9/11 Commission Report say about Building 7? Nothing. Not a single word.
If that doesn't make you pause, nothing will.
The "Pull It" Moment
Larry Silverstein, the leaseholder of the World Trade Center complex, gave an interview for a PBS documentary in which he described the decision-making on September 11. His words: "I remember getting a call from the fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, 'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse."
"Pull it."
In demolition industry terminology, "pull" means to bring a building down with explosives. Silverstein's spokesman later claimed he meant "pull the firefighters out" — but you don't "pull" firefighters. You pull buildings. And Building 7 came down in a textbook controlled demolition.
Six Weeks Before
Here's a detail that should have been on the front page of every newspaper: Larry Silverstein signed the lease for the World Trade Center just six weeks before 9/11.
Six weeks.
And what did he do almost immediately after signing that lease? He negotiated a massive insurance policy — $3.55 billion in coverage, with a clause specifically covering terrorism.
The previous insurance on the property was roughly half that amount. Silverstein reportedly insisted on the terrorism clause. And after the attacks, he went to court arguing that because two planes hit two towers, he should be paid twice — nearly $7 billion.
A man leases a property six weeks before its destruction, quadruples the insurance, adds terrorism coverage, and then argues for a double payout. In any other context, investigators would call that a motive.
The Mastermind in a Cave
The official story tells us that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged "mastermind" of 9/11, coordinated the entire operation from a cave in Afghanistan using a phone and a laptop.
A man on dialysis. In a cave. In one of the most remote regions on Earth. Directing the most sophisticated terrorist attack in history, coordinating 19 hijackers across the United States, managing flight schools, finances, and logistics — all from a cave.
Meanwhile, the hijackers allegedly brought down the World Trade Center with box cutters. Utility knives. Against trained pilots and crew. And they supposedly overpowered the passengers on four separate flights.
If you believe that, you also believe that a passport belonging to one of the hijackers — Satam al-Suqami — survived the fireball explosion that supposedly cremated him, flew out of his pocket, and landed intact on the street blocks away, ready to be found by investigators.
The bodies of hundreds of victims were never recovered. But the hijacker's passport? Pristine.
The President Who Knew
On the morning of September 11, President George W. Bush was at Emma E. Booker Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida, reading "The Pet Goat" to a group of second-graders.
He was informed that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. He stayed in the classroom for another five to seven minutes.
Later, in December 2001 and again in January 2002, Bush claimed he saw the first plane hit the tower on television before entering the classroom. "I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower," he said.
But here's the problem: no cameras were trained on the World Trade Center at the time of the first impact. No live footage of the first plane hitting the North Tower existed until much later. The first crash was not broadcast live.
So how did Bush see it?
Either he was lying, or he had prior knowledge. His spokesman later called it a "mistaken recollection".
A mistaken recollection about the most significant event of his presidency. Right.
The Pentagon: The Day Before and the Day Of
On September 10, 2001 — one day before the attacks — Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld gave a speech at the Pentagon. In that speech, he admitted something extraordinary:
"According to some estimates, we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions."
$2.3 trillion. Missing. Unaccounted for. The day before the Pentagon was hit.
The following day, a plane — or something — struck the Pentagon. And the very section of the building that was hit? The area where the accounting and financial records were kept.
The missing money? The records that might have explained it? Destroyed.
Less than 48 hours after Rumsfeld admitted the Pentagon couldn't account for trillions, the evidence went up in flames. If you're a conspiracy theorist, that's not a coincidence. That's a cover-up.
No Plane, No Bodies, No Parts
The Pentagon is one of the most secure buildings on Earth. Cameras cover every inch of it. Multiple security cameras recorded the approach.
Not a single frame showing the plane hitting the Pentagon was released to the public for years. When footage was finally released in 2006, it was grainy, low-resolution, and showed nothing clearly identifiable as a Boeing 757.
The hole in the Pentagon was approximately five meters across — far too small for a 757 with a wingspan of nearly 38 meters. Conspiracy theorists pointed out that the lawn was clean after the attack, with no wing debris, no tail section, no engines.
At most plane crashes around the world, you find bodies, seats, luggage, engine parts, landing gear — debris scattered across a wide area. At the Pentagon, the official story claims the plane completely disintegrated on impact, vaporized by the heat of the explosion.
But if the plane vaporized, why were there no bodies? Why no plane parts? Why did witnesses describe a missile or a military aircraft?
And why did the government fight so hard to keep the footage secret?
The Dancing Israelis
On the morning of September 11, five men were arrested in Liberty State Park, New Jersey. They had been videotaping the attacks — and witnesses reported they were celebrating, "dancing" as the towers burned.
They worked for a company called Urban Moving Systems, which the FBI later determined was a Mossad front.
They were detained, interrogated, and eventually deported. The official explanation? They were just "celebrating" — nothing to see here.
But if five men with cameras and a Mossad cover company were positioned to film the attacks before they happened, that suggests foreknowledge. And foreknowledge suggests involvement.
The Passport and the Phone Call
We already mentioned the hijacker passport that survived the fireball. But let's add another detail.
The alleged hijackers were supposedly led by a man on dialysis in a cave who used a satellite phone and a laptop to coordinate everything.
But satellite phones in Afghanistan in 2001? Laptops in caves? The logistics are absurd. The 9/11 Commission itself found that the attacks were planned and executed by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed — a man who was later captured and waterboarded 183 times. The "intelligence" used to justify the Iraq War came from torture. And the CIA destroyed the tapes of those interrogations.
The evidence is gone. The "mastermind" was tortured into confession. And the American public was told to accept it.
What the 9/11 Commission Didn't Investigate
The 9/11 Commission was delayed, underfunded, and based on testimony extracted from torture.
It didn't mention Building 7. It didn't investigate who funded the attacks. It didn't examine Operation Able Danger, the military intelligence program that allegedly identified some of the hijackers before 9/11. It didn't look at the war games being conducted on the morning of 9/11 — simulations of hijacked planes flying into buildings — that were running at the exact same time as the real attacks.
President Bush and Vice President Cheney testified in secret, off the record, not under oath, and behind closed doors.
What were they hiding?
The Pattern
Two planes. Three buildings. A leaseholder with terrorism insurance. A president who "saw" a crash that wasn't broadcast. A Pentagon with $2.3 trillion missing. No plane footage. No bodies. No parts. A passport that survived a fireball. Five Israelis filming and celebrating. A commission that investigated nothing.
You don't have to have all the answers to know that the official story doesn't add up. You just have to be willing to look at the facts and ask the question that the mainstream media refuses to ask:
Who benefited?
The military-industrial complex got a blank check for endless war. The surveillance state got the PATRIOT Act. The financial crimes of Enron and others got buried in the rubble of Building 7. And the American people got a story — a story that falls apart the moment you examine it.
Two planes did not bring down three towers.
Wake up.

I just watched an episode of Masters of Horror called Homecoming directed by Joe Dante.
Almost all of Dante's movies are political but you often need to interpret. In 2005 he had something to say about the Iraq War and George W. Bush. This time there was no subtlety involved.
Homecoming is not great. If it had been purely black humor it might have worked better but it also tries to be sentimental which falls flat. As a political statement I love it.

The Details Behind US President Trump’s Primetime Speech
Since February 28, the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran has been heavily decimated by the joint US-Israel military operations. To date, almost all of Iran’s senior leadership were eliminated, their navy and air force have been devastated, their military/industrial/government sites have been struck, and their new so-called supreme leader could not even show himself physically to his people. US President Trump just delivered a primetime speech to give the public a clear view about the direction America is taking right now regarding the weakened Iran. Beyond the fighting, what happened has been shaping the future of the Middle East as we know it.
