Today we held the kick-off workshop of the #Waseda #GameLab.
Kathrin Fahlenbrach, visiting scholar from Hamburg presented on "Protest by Gameplay. Activist Appropriations of popular Gameworlds".
Bryan Hartzheim did a talk on "Designer Discourse: Unearthing Cultures of Videogame Production" based on his latest book on Hideo Kojima.
And I presented my thoughts on "Emergent Games for Language Learning - Structures, Rules, Mechanics" for discussion.

I am happy to announce the launch of the "Waseda Game Lab" together with my colleague Bryan Hikari Hartzheim.
And even more happy to announce the first visiting scholar at our game lab, Kathrin Fahlenbrach, Profossor of Media Studies at the University of Hamburg. During her three months stay, she will conduct research on #games as a medium of political #protest.
