  2. "There is no such thing as a video game industry" or in other words, why indie game developers compete on a much smaller market than they think.

Or much larger. Depends how you look at it. 🙃

Original article by Christopher Dring of The Game Business: thegamebusiness.com/p/there-is

Boy had Nexon got Stardew Valley wrong. 🧑‍🌾 It is pretty hardcore.

  3. "Successful devs aren’t using market research at the expense of creativity. Instead, they are just perceiving what the general Steam audience is super excited for and then figuring out how to make more of it"

    I agree fully! 💯💯💯💯

  4. Very cool insights on adjusting Steam product prices to purchasing power parity (PPP) as well as a free tool:

    hushcrasher.substack.com/p/ste

Counter-point: isn't setting some regional prices as low as -70% of the base price encouraging grey market and VPN use even further?

Or alternatively, utilizing harsh regional locks (like Netflix does)...

I really don't know which is a better path to take here.

  5. I like how the current state of the indie game market evokes such strong contrasting opinions. On one hand you have terms such as "the golden age" and on the other claims that making indie games is not a viable way to make a living. ‼️

And both takes are correct, in a way. 🤯

Finally gotten back to writing for my blog. Have a new article that's still work-in-progress, but I'm excited for it so I put up the first few paragraphs... phanjam.github.io/nugamedev/#A.

And this is the diagram of the main subject of the new article - it's a model for a "new ecosystem of game development"... feel free to comment!

Edit: I used sketchboard.io to make the diagram / great free program!
