CW: RDPR finale and the French Vanilla Fantasy league
That was a fun finale. I’ve updated the final tallies for the #FrenchVanillaFantasy drag race fantasy league that I’ve been running all season.
I can hearby announce that @germ and his House of Beaver Beaters 🦫 have won the House Trophy at the French Vanilla Fantasy function and can claim the title House Parent of the Year.
@yesjohn and his House of Oracle 🔮 and @toddo and his House of Inneywhey 🫀👛 each receive Runner Up House Trophies, and are standing in the wings in case Germ is unable to perform the required duties throughout the course of the year. Condragulations to our Top Three Houses.
In my infinite wisdom, I chose Amanda over Plane, Xunami over Sapphira, and Hershii over Morphine — I ended up dead last, almost 200 points behind Germ.
Thanks also to everyone else who played along all season. #dragrace #rupaulsdragrace

CW: RPDR current season
I haven’t been posting much about #dragrace lately; not really sure why. I do watch all the franchises, and I think the long long long stretch of episodes is giving me a bit of fatigue.
For the French Vanilla Fantasy drag league, I decided to give the returning girls scores as follows:
1 point if they lost in the first round — Q, Dawn, Plasma, Hershii, Xunami and Geneva.
5 point if they won the first lipsync but lost the second — Amanda, Mirage and Mhi’ya.
9 points to Megami, who won three lipsyncs but lost in the finale.
10 points to Morphine, who won the whole thing.I was very very happy with Megami, and I loved how pressed Mhi’ya was. And I loved Morphine and I was rooting for her from the first moment.

I was so happy to see Laith back in the Pit Crew — Tina didn’t remember that he was on the show before or know that he’s trans — he’s just a hottie. Love the heart-shaped window so we can see the Pit Crew guests from the waist down. It was odd we didn’t have someone from the Pit Crew for the reading mini-challenge, but I guess they were saving them.
Saw on Q’s Twitter meltdown that she was in San Francisco on Thursday; didn’t know about it. Tonight Plasma is at Oasis, and tomorrow Dawn is at Beaux. I kinda like all three of the runway, and I tend to like Plasma in challenges, but I’m getting tired of the three of them in the workroom. Maybe I just need a break.
Morphine really delivered in that lipsync, damn. I liked Xunami a lot, but Morphine ate.
Horrible confession — I’ve got a co-worker who kinda gives me the same energy as Plasma, and now I can’t unsee it. As a recovering theater queen, I apologize to everyone I’ve ever bored in my past with my ramblings.

CW: Drag Race S16Ep7 Fantasy League
Here are the current standings in the #FrenchVanillaFantasy leagues.
Each person chose seven girls to be in their very own Drag House. These girls earn points for their house. In addition, each person was asked to choose a queen they thought would be eliminated early as a tiebreaker. The first queen out was worth ten tiebreaking points, then nine, and so on.
I’m stupidly proud of the spreadsheet. It was a lot of fun to put together, and I love that it updates automatically.
I’m also not surprised that I have one of the lowest scores in the league. I always love girls early who show well in the promos but not in the actual competition.
(Secret fact — Tina and I have a separate spreadsheet, and in that one I chose Sapphira instead of Amanda. I didn’t make the change for the French Vanilla Fantasy. Ah well.)

CW: Drag Race S16Ep7 Fantasy League
Tina and I have been keeping score when we watch drag race for the past few seasons. We use a modified version of the Busted or Dusted rules — 10 points for the challenge winner, 7.5 points for high placement, 5 points for safe, 2.5 points for low placement, 1 point for shantaying after a lipsync, and no points for an elimination. This season, I put together a list of ways that queens could earn bonus points - various challenges are worth extra points, along with being the first winner, the first to win two solo challenges, etc.
I opened it up to people here before the season began, and called it #FrenchVanillaFantasy because I love a Valentina moment.
It’s interesting to look at how the scores are coalescing around a group of five queens who are consistently in the top; a couple of mostly safe girls; and a few who have mostly been getting low rankings.

CW: Drag Race S16 Ep 6
I love a design challenge, and combining it with branding and dolls made a lot of sense.
Law would be fantastic as a permanent judge (if they could afford her). We didn’t get the full Law that we saw on Legendary — sometimes cruel, sometimes capricious, but always always always demanding excellence. She said nice things, but I don’t think any of these girls truly gagged Law, and that’s a shame.
There are still some girls who need to step it up — I’m looking at Xunami, Morphine, and Megami, who all were safe yet again. (Megami has a shared win, but come on now.)
When it was clear that Mhi’ya was lipsyncing, I made Tina pause the episode so we could come up with the Most Awkward Lipsync Numbers for Mhi’ya to Flip Her Way Through.
Tina came up with “(I’ve Been to Paradise But I’ve) Never Been to Me” by Charlene.
I suggested “Cities in Dust” by Siouxsie and the Banshees, but mostly because I knew it would make Tina laugh. What would your suggestion be?

CW: drag race
Back when they were talking about this season’s meet the queens, Bob predicted that Mirage would go home as soon as the show aired anything remotely sympathetic about her, and we got that this episode.
I was genuinely moved at her exit; I just wanted someone to go give her a hug. Untucked was hard to watch — especially her chugging that cocktail in a single gulp, which was enough to cause several girls to express real, is-your-mental-health-ok concern for her. And then she told two girls she didn’t know the lyrics. Sad sad sad.
I don’t know that I agreed she should even have lip synced — are they waiting for the right song for Mhi’ya to do her flips to?
We are still in an odd place — five girls have gotten top critics and/or wins; Geneva was in the top once but has now lip synced twice; Mhi’ya has been low twice; and all the other girls have only been safe. I need some movement!

CW: Drag Race S16 Ep 2
The second episode of a two-part premiere is often a bit of a letdown, and this was no exception. Some of the reveals were “I had a coat, now I don’t have a coat.” I need to see the two groups combined.
• I want to like Geneva, but both of the dress-y parts of her talent and runway were frumpy and boring. It is absolutely possible to make a folklórico outfit that is DRAG — just think what the Mexico girls would have done with the assignment.
• Plane Jane felt like a winner by default. Still, it’s been a while since someone leaned into the villain edit so early. Her comments about Megami’s talent performance were exactly what Tina and I were saying moments before.
• Ah, Megami. Misfire on both the talent and the runway. I think the girls are gonna eat her and Amanda alive when it comes to the next Rate-A-Queen.
• Nymphia, Nymphia, Nymphia. Can’t get enough of her.
• I am not sure if I’m buying what Mhi’ya, Plasma and Hershii are selling yet.

CW: Drag Race Season 16
We had a bit of time to kill before the new episode starts — we usually give it about 20 minutes so we can ff through the commercials — which meant we ended up watching Bob & Monet give their little commentary on the entrance looks of all the Season 16 queens. I had already locked in my #frenchvanillafantasy choices, or I might have shifted a couple of them, but that’s part of the frustration and fun of a fantasy league.
I like getting to know a smaller group of seven before the two halves collide.
Sapphira is insane, and I love a good crazy eye during a lipsync. And that talent!!! But I’m so so so tired of breastplate humor. Jimbo has a lot to answer for.
Dawn and Q are giving LQQKS and seem to be fun too; they had the next best talent show performances too. I want to see more of their runways.
Looking forward to the next set of queens! #rpdr #dragrace #rdpr16

@ryanhg I waffled on Q as well and didn’t pick her but in the end I just went with who I liked best, not necessarily who I thought would win. #frenchvanillafantasy
