New tarot deck is here! This one is specifically for playing, so I'm really excited to learn scarto, French tarot, or tarocchini!
The box description is really funny, though, because this "unique combination of tarot and playing cards" is about 500 years too late!

Here's my modern French Tarot deck I ordered on Ebay. I get that a lot of this is "white american girl discovers history" but I am just obsessed with this!
As far as I understand it, this is still played in France in much the same way as something like Bridge has tournaments in the US.

Finally got to actually play French Tarot with 3 other people in person last night and it was a blast! Hearts was always my favorite trick-taking game but this is soooo complex and interesting and cool, really loved the feeling of starting to see all the possible strategies as the test hand went around.
