On the subject of #floppycasts, I've got lots of episodes of content recorded for our show about public domain moves.
I've got several episodes written and at least partially recorded about old computers.
I have two episodes written, and recording has started on our comedy show about a sasquatch hunter.
And I'm going to be recording more tonight.

Just read your blog post on #floppycasts - it sounds like a really interesting project. Personally I prefer the idea of a shorter #floppycast with better audio quality.I've been podcasting for over 11 years now, and I keep threatening to do a talk #shotcast - so I might see if I can combine it with this concept to keep the length down.

So, surprisingly, mp3 appears to be the winner in this race, just because of speed of playback.
And yeah, the opus file sounds *way* better at the same file size, and I can make opus a fair amount smaller at roughly equivalent quality, but it takes a much more powerful machine to play the opus file.
So ... mp3 #floppycasts?

Alright! I spent a large portion of my weekend doing frivolous research in to #floppycasts, or floppy disk distribution for podcasts.
I have low-bitrate ogg playing back on DOS and Windows 95/98 on Pentium, and 486 processors at 100MHz (or better), which results in listenable audio at 15 minutes per 1.4 MB.
I have Opus playback on Pentium MMX 166 and higher, in Windows, using Winamp 2.5 and the opus plugin, which results in listenable audio at 30 minutes per 1.3 MB.
