Does anybody want to get into GURPS with physical books?
I have the 4th Edition Basic Set (2 hardcovers, Characters and Campaigns, 575 numbered pages) and the additional volume Fantasy (softcover, 240 numbered pages, also 4th edition)
I'm asking for 10€ for the Basic Set and 5€ for the Fantasy book, plus actual shipping (unless we can meet in Cologne somewhere). Due to shipping it's probably not worth it if you're outside of Europe. -

What a weird day so far. Went to Charles street dole office to show up that I am still alive; 10 minutes, out I went.
By the bike rack there's a Chinese bloke refitting the dropped chain on his bike I asked if he needed help. he said no, OK.As I am about to go, he comes over and speaks to me in Chinese, I do not understand a word. So he spoke into his phone which then translated. really weird language, he spoke on the phone which then came up with a series of Chinese writing and spoke in English. Amazing.
Spent about an hour having a chat with this bloke, in his fifties, from Shangai, said his son was a student here, he was here on holiday as his country his much too hot in Summer. Weird that.
Anyway it all went almost well, he asked if this was a school, no it isn't but it is student accommodation, then said this city is not much to write home about, I agreed.
Asked if there were flea markets nearby I said no, not near, and gave him direction to Sully, where there is a market on sundays unless it's raining.
And that was that, goodbye, have a nice day - in Chinese sounds really weird and beautiful, Off I went on my bike, at a certain point realized I did not have my spectacles on. ACH! I said to myself, where are they? not hanging by the neck chain I wear, not in the pockets, not on the bike bags. I went back and forth twice on the road to find them, not a sign, not a shadow, no specs smashed under car's wheels,
u nothing.
not a shade.Went back in the office, asked the security, then to the desk, none. Nothing. Weird.
Back out again, walked up the road gain, again nothing, not a piece, nothing. At this point though is it possible I forgot them in the flat? So returned to the flat, searched the usual area and other parts, nothing, no specs. Gone. Vanished. Completely. WTF?
Really strange to lose one's specs; doesn't make much difference nowadays, still...

Another #oldpaper post.
This is a first edition of the Italian translation of "Portrait of a Lady" by Henry James and was published by Einaudi in 1943. Got it at the #fleamarket this morning.This book is suffering the "Slow Fire" effect: the chemicals used to produce the paper are degrading and embrittleing it. Another trip to a nearby #fleamarket, found mostly old paper (which I'll put in another post), but also a few retro(ish) things: a #zxspectrum in a totally smashed box and another #playstation, a 7000 series, nothing special, memory expansion on it is doable but annoying.
I suspect the spectrum has a composite mod.

Another thing I brought home from the #fleamarket are a few bound volumes of "OGGI" a popular weekly paper. I brought home years 1950 and 1947.
There are more where these came from, I gave my contacts to the nice person that was selling, I'll get the rest.I love these collections, as they give precious insights on the mind of people of the time, plus perspective on how the world was seen.

Back from the #fleamarket, no electronics today.
I found some old paper but that'll be for the next post.
First thing I brought home was some wool spools. I don't have any use for them, but my mother loves knitting she and asked me for these two from the photo you see below. They're both well over 1.5kgs. -

Here's the bunch of notebooks I bought at the last #fleamarket. They all have dates ranging between 1970 and mid '80s.
The seller has been emptying an old office/school supply shop that closed down more than 20 years ago.I take a lot of notes and love doing it on these.
Besides, they're actually cheaper and have better paper than the ones I can find at the local shops. -

Have bought a #Sharp #PC-500S last Saturday at flea market in Hannover for 20€. After changing the caps for contrast potentiometer it's working quite nice now. Prefer the plastic keys in opposite to the #PC-E500 (without the S) 😉 Maybe I gift the older one in my collection to a friend for it's 60th birthday in July 😀 He is looking for that one for a long time now 😀

Look at what they took from us!!!
These are photos from issues of "Scienza e Vita" (Science and Life) an italian popular "scientific" publication dated between 1956 and 1958. At the #fleamarket I found several volumes that bind together multiple issues.
There's many interesting articles in it, a good outlook on how the future was seen, what were the worries and hopes for the future.
Also the ads are great. There's one promising to transform you into a cross between radio-electronic engineer and an eldritch horror.
