"In 2021, the virtual world was the future of the internet. The pandemic had sequestered everyone indoors, heightening the appeal of digital communities. Facebook rebranded to Meta — a sign of the tech giant’s investment in and commitment to the metaverse as the future of the internet. Despite losing billions in VR, Meta released an upgraded version of the Quest 2 headset and began focusing on launching a higher-end Quest Pro. At the end of the year, it announced its plan to plunk down a rumored $400 million to buy the independent VR gaming studio Within, maker of a popular fitness game called Supernatural. Less than five years later, however, it shut the game down, leaving a community of avid fans bereft.
To former FTC chair Lina Khan, there’s a lesson in the ultimate fate of Supernatural, and the community that had grown up around it. She’d know — because she tried and failed to block Meta from acquiring Within.
“You need to have some regulatory humility because you don’t always know on the front-end how certain products are meaningful for certain communities,” says Khan. The FTC’s Meta lawsuit was often framed as an abstract attempt to rein in Big Tech. But in the end, the acquisition’s human cost was obvious — and an example of precisely why antitrust law matters. “Bringing to light that [Supernatural] was a core way for communities to stay healthy shows that there were real stakes here.”"

É preciso ser-se artista: a #AMA passa a #ARTE, a #FCT é extinta. A investigação passa para a ANI (que passa a chamar-se AI2). A substituição da AMA pela ARTE acontece "imediatamente", mas a escolha do seu director é que não tem data prevista.
Já em problemas concretos da tecnologia na administração pública - por exemplo a mudança no #SIRESP ... bem, o prazo que acabava hoje para um estudo foi afinal adiado (sem nova data), e estamos aqui estamos a fazer novo ajuste directo porque o governo não consegue cumprir os seus próprios objectivos.

2.2) PS continua a mostrar os defeitos da estratégia da AD (desinvestimento na investigação, por ex.). Até o que a AD diz para mostrar que este ano correu bem, são números menos bons do que estavam há um ano atrás. AD diz que é mentira que tenha cortado o investimento na #FCT.
3) #saúde - AD contrata mais como? Continuando a fazer o que tem feito. Diz que as coisas estão melhor agora do que estavam antes. Chama as PPP de "melhorias", e que são porque "está provado". Então e a promessa dos médicos de família que falhou? Ele diz que cumpriu com a promessa do plano de 60 dias! Quanto a médicos de família... é para o mais rápido possível, sem data. E o PS? Explica que as coisas estão pior do que estavam, as promessas que PS avisou no ano passado que não eram possíveis falharam como o esperado. Sobre as PPP ele diz que não é contra em princípio, mas os casos concretos precisam de fundamentação, as 5 anunciadas pela AD não têm. AD insiste que a saúde está melhor, jornalista explica que não. PS traz números para provar que a saúde está pior.

Recuerdo en mis prácticas de #FCT, en una #startup local, que... Bueno... Madre mía...
La premisa era muy interesante y tocábamos tecnologías muy actuales: #GraphQL #NestJS y, en teoría, iba a apre der cositas de #AWS y #S3. Al final se quedó en nada y fue "una perdida de tiempo", por así decirlo.
La aplicación estaba prevista para septiembre, si no recuerdo mal 🤔 He estado buscando y no hay nada. Se ve que las cosas no iban tan bien como intentaba vender la consultoria 🤔🤔 una pena.
