The fire wall in the EUParliament is quite different from that in Germany. In 🇩🇪, the #AfD is the strongest opposition party. At #EU level, all three far-right groups combined (including the AfD) account for just a quarter of the seats. So, no compelling reason for #EPP to work with the far right.

Trump’s threat to impose fresh tariffs on eight European countries
– UK, Norway and six EU member states

said on Saturday night the deal with the EU cannot be approved in the present circumstances.Trump’s threat also disregards the fact that individual member states do not have individual trade deals with the US.
All EU international trade deals are conducted centrally through Brussels, as was the case last summer.The EU-US trade deal was agreed under considerable pressure from Trump at his Scottish golf course last July.
However, while it has entered into force in the US, the 0% tariffs promised to the US have yet to be legally ratified in the EU.
♦️“The EPP is in favour of the EU-US trade deal

Also drehe ich das System einfach mal um und zieh den Topf an. 😅 Rechts ein Ornament aus 4 Hexies (auf dünne Pappe gezogen) zum Aufhängen. Mal sehen, wie sich beides bewährt und ob ich mein schnell zusammengeklöppeltes Schnittmuster noch ändern muss. Als Oberstoff und Innenstoff bestehen aus Baumwolle, Inlay aus temperaturbeständigem Vlies, das ich ich hier seit 3 Jahren für nie genähte Topflappen liegen habe...

Dr #EoinDrea is a senior researcher at the #WilfriedMartensCentre, the official think tank of the #EuropeanPeopleParty (#EPP) of which #FineGael #FG is a member.
FG will probably try to disown Eoin Drea. They will says this is just a personal opinion by an academic researcher etc, that it's obviously not in any way FG's position.
That is of course #bollix. EPP staff don't go placing op-eds on highly sensitive #foreignpolicy issues without some liaison with the local EPP member party.
