13 sites were identified by EPA as National Priority Sites in 2022, six of these sites were from the Food & Drink sector and five were from the Waste sector. EPA carried out 1,434 inspections, 87% were unannounced.
EPA has secured access to over €1 billion from the EPA licensed sites that pose the greatest risk to the environment. This money is available to the EPA in the event of sudden closure, abandonment or serious environmental incident. http://bit.ly/3B9AxLw #EPAoee

CW: Unauthorised water discharge in Co. Meath
EPA has prosecuted Uisce Éireann Irish Water for allowing the unauthorised discharge of untreated sewage from Rathmolyon, Meath. As a result of the EPA’s enforcement, Uisce Éireann Irish Water has now improved operations to prevent such discharges from this site in future.
