First time we came across the term educide, used here to describe a situation in which Depok’s municipal government plans to close or merge more than 20 schools in the city in a decision from 2020.

Public outrage and pressure forced the authorities in the West Java city to postpone the plan to demolish Pondok Cina State Elementary School 1 last year intended to make way for a grand mosque.

A lawsuit was filed for wrongful eviction and construction plan claiming that a grand mosque can only be built at the provincial capital, which is Bandung.
