An #EC130 #helicopter #crashed at Lake St. Clair in MI, yesterday. It looks to be a pilot error.
Winds were calm, but the approach was unsteady and touchdown was more like plop down. Immediately after touchdown, the pilot appeared to have pushed the rotor disc, hard-forward, which may have have pitched and flipped the aircraft.
Or, the pilot may have sensed a ground resonance (it is a three-bladed rotor, after all) and simply over reacted. But judging from the way the approach was flown, such a quick recognition of this somewhat-rare phenomenon was unlikely.
