Mie #Gusuku is one of the forts defending the entrance of the harbour of Naha. Part of the stone wall on the river side is built atop an arch that straddles a crack on the bedrock. There are other cracks in the bedrock along the river and the wall just undulates to follow them, there is just this one place where no, it is necessary to build a straight wall, let's make an arch [...]

The hashtag of the #Archaeology Days clearly lacks #gusuku pictures. Here is #Katsuren Gusuku, seen from the Eastern Enclosure, while we were working on its stone wall. It will be the best photospot of the site when it will be opened to the public. In several years, obviously, we just started geopositionning it, we haven't even dug any hole yet.

Et puisqu'on est au Musée de #Chatan (j'ai dit qu'il était gratuit ?), ils ont la meilleure présentation pédagogique de l'évolution de la céram préhistorique de tous les musées de l'île. Et le diorama le plus choupi !

#Chatan Museum (free, but they plan to get a fee for the parking lot if you stay more than an hour) has a bamboo basket of the Early Kaizuka Phase II from Ireibaru Site. The museum was built at the location of the site and in their park they still have the Kaizuka period spring, that still gives water. They set a copy of the bamboo basket in the stream.

The Yongle tongbao (永楽通宝) coins have been copied in South-eastern and Eastern Asia from the 15th to the 16th century. The false coins are easily identifiable and were used as currency nevertheless, but with a value lower than the one of the real coins (with an exchange rate, like "ten false coins for a real coin"). The coin on top is a real one, all the others are bad copies, with different letters (1), deformed letters (2) or different size letters (3).

Cooking pot with pointed bottom of the Ōyama pottery type, from the #Kaizuka Period, found on Ōyama Shell Mound in #Ginowan City, as displayed in Ginowan City Museum, that is still free.
Ōyama type is from the Early Kaizuka Period, Phase IV, and archaeologists in #Okinawa quite like it because it is very easily recognisable with its little squared patterns below the lip.

On saturday, guided tour on the fediverse of #Urasoe #Gusuku !
And on sunday, if it is not raining cats and dogs (which might unfortunately very well happen...), the great challenge "how many historical wells and springs of the kingdom period can you visit in one day on bicycle around my flat ?". I mapped 101 of them, I shall be busy.
