Local folks: What are mosquitoes looking like for you so far this year? I put our mosquito trap buckets out maybe 6 weeks ago. It's also been really dry. I killed a mosquito on myself today for the first time — inside, oddly. Anyway, I don't really remember when the mosquitoes start up anymore. Have any of you noticed mosquitoes yet? Have you noticed a lot, a few, or is it just average so far? 🦟 #DurhamNC #RTP #mosquitoes

Anyway Banjofriday also is #BandcampFriday and while banjoless, today the new album "Companion" by Sluice dropped. Perfect soundtrack for my train back from Gent to Cologne. I preordered it ages ago and was looking forward to the release today. Sluice is just such a fantastic band and sometimes in their back catalog you might find the sound of a banjo as well.

#DurhamNC real estate news: The owners of the Durham Centre (the ugly blue glass and brown brick thing with the ziggurat top, across from the Carolina Theatre) are sinking $10M into converting the entire first floor of the building into amenities for the employees of companies that lease space there (it's actually largely occupied by Duke Health & related entities).
Lipstick on a pig, to be sure.
Oh also: It'll be rebranded as The Grove Durham. LMAO.

Sarah P Duke Gardens
Perspective and scale; Tiny moss or a hill covered in tall grass? Bald Cypress tree or the leg of an enormous dinosaur? Towering Red Oak tree or a single neuron? Moss on a rock or an Alpine mountain face with a distant forest? Spending the morning trying to exercise my visual perspectives.
