🚉🇮🇪 Iarnród Éireann plans to seek approval for two new rail stations in #Cork, at #Blackpool and #Dunkettle, marking the first of eight under the Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme in #Ireland. The scheme aims to deliver trains every ten minutes on routes to Cobh, Midleton and Mallow. Blackpool will serve the Mallow line, while Dunkettle will act as a major park-and-ride hub linked to Cobh and Midleton services.

The wider programme includes completed and ongoing upgrades such as a new platform at Kent Station, track doubling to Midleton and network re-signalling, with electrification and further stations planned. More than 5,200 daily passengers are forecast at the two sites by 2035. Construction could begin in 2027, subject to approval and funding, and take up to two years.

Both stations will include accessible platforms, parking, cycling facilities and infrastructure for future electrification.
