Ok, I really want to know what's up with these. I bought one for $5 something like a year and a half ago, and I only bought it because it was cheap, I expected, and wasn't disappointed, to find out that its a piece of crap. While I got mine at one of the local Ollies stores, I've been seeing them at discount sites for between $5 and $10 all this time, and now they're resorting to selling two packs of them. Seriously, did they like build a billion of these things that they're desperately trying to clear out, or what?

Yet another potential customer here.
What I would also like is that for appliances that do have electronics in them (dishwashers, clothes washers, etc - these are better without mechanical timers as long as they work) to eliminate custom MCU boards etc. If you need custom sensors or relays or similar, you have a satellite board for that, but make the MCU controlling the whole thing a bog-standard Raspberry Pi Pico $5 MCU. Plenty powerful enough for any appliance. If it fails, I want a $5 replacement, not a $1000 custom MCU board that isn't available as a spare 3 years after the appliance goes on sale.
Shipping the source for the software that runs on that Pico would be gravy.
