Just arrived at the #BedAndBreakfast in #Orvelte. Took a little walk before relaxing for the evening. Tomorrow we go around fully.

On our way here, my husband saw a deer running over the road for the first time. Despite me warning many times that that can happen this side of the country, he was quite shocked it actually happened :mastorofl:.

Tomorrow they also hold the Day Of The Harvest here, which is why we we choose to come today. It'll be great to show my husband some of the #culture and #history of where I grew up. Then he can see the old way of #countryside living here, as well as see the beautiful #Drents #klederdracht 😍.

Vrienden van me zijn naar #Pride in Amsterdam. Voor mij is dat helaas niet mogelijk.
Dit zag ik liggen in de aanbiedingenbak van de supermarkt: Afgeprijsde Katja Regenboogsnoepjes. Nog #Vegan ook.
De #ironie; In Amsterdam vieren ze Pride. Ondertussen in #Drenthe, het Alabama van Nederland hebben we Truckstar in Assen.
Truckstar: het feest der #klimaatverandering.
In de berm vd A28 kijken mensen hoe de trucks aankomen. Biertje en droge worst erbij.
Woke snoepjes eet men hier niet in Drenthe... 🤠

Bescherming van het milieu kun je in #Drenthe niet overlaten aan de provincie. Daar is het boerenbelang doorslaggevend.

A group of us visited the Dwingeloo radiotelescope on Sunday. I've often cycled down there to ride over the heath or sit near the radio telescope and eat my lunch, but not been on a guided tour before. I recommend it. You can currently book a tour on Sundays and Wednesdays in July and August.

Real discoveries were made here. This was once the largest radiotelescope in the world, a title which of course it has not held for many years.

But the telescope can now do more than it could in the 1950s and 60s because its capability is enhanced by modern software. This made it possible for the wonderful enthusiastic amateurs who now run the telescope to demonstrate things to us within five minutes which once took months for a group of scientists to work out.

I remember as a kid visiting an #historical #village in #Drenthe that held an annual event showing stuff from the old time. It was great but I dunno which village it was. Anyways, I wanted to go to something like that to show my husband some of the #culture and #history of where I'm from. Orvelte seems like a good bet for that.
