I have done it. Despite the usual 2.4Ghz network related nonsense with IoT and my general nervous disposition when dealing with electrical matters. I have removed my #Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 3 and replaced with the #DraytonWiser HubR Gen 2. I took some pleasure, tinged with sadness mind you, at deleting my Nest account which I never migrated! I’m a little bit more #DeGoogled It’s a shame the guys sold out to Google. Nest was an innovative product. #DIY

Also removing another Google data harvesting node in my life! Plus the ever present demand in the app to move Nest account to a Google Home account is annoying. No I won’t move, but I will delete entirely! #DIY #NestThermostat #DraytonWiser #Tado

So a fun packed #DIY weekend fitting a new sole plate and finally replacing the previously rotted bathroom floor. Probably going to be over engineered but rather over than under! Also turned off heating. This will be the last year of #NestThermostat given Google Nest no longer support Europe. It will be replaced by #DraytonWiser thermostat and smart TRVs. I’m using the auto-balancing valves for new rads so decided to keep all in same brand. Also #Tado were getting some terrible reviews.
