  1. We had some strong wind last evening from thunderstorms. This morning I went for a run and saw some trees fell down in the neighborhood. I'm wondering if it was a down burst.

    PBS Nova has a good documentary about these phenomena. It's neat how falling rain or hail can evaporate/sublimate and cool surrounding air which causes it to descend rapidly. But the resulting wind when the downburst hits the ground is dangerous.
