WTF story of the day: #DePaul $University in #Chicago has dismissed Professor Anne d’Aquino for assigning her students to explore the impact of "genocide in Gaza" on human health.

The University administration cited "objections from some students" who felt that introducing politics into a science class was inappropriate and considered the material "outside the scope" of the course.

D’Aquino has appealed her dismissal, contending that the assignment was relevant, especially considering concerns raised by scientists about the spread of infectious diseases in Gaza.

@georgetakei hysterical. Our kid graduated from #DePaul in ‘22. We visited as often as we could. Spouse and I loved #Chicago and used to visit regularly in the '90's. It was so nice to have a reason to go back. That city has only gotten better with age.

New talk: Border Security - Lessons from All Over

The #DePaul University secdaemons student group invited me to present at their annual Daemoncon. Taking inspiration from a classic Bill Cheswick talk and Klaus Dodds' book The New Border Wars, I try to weave some real-world border issues with Internet-specific security perimeter experiences.
