last night i woke up to the bedside radio playing musik by david lindley. but it turned out to be no happy interruption of my sleep. the radio show host was dedicating his show to the memory of david lindley because lindley had died on the 3. of march. in the 90s i had seen a concert of lindley and ingram in berlin in the fine location of the quasimodo. i had only known some songs of lindley's "el rayo x" record and so was quite unprepared for what i came to hear: utterly perfect guitar and drum music, acoustic, gripping and very funny! ever since then i wanted to attend one of his concerts again but this didn't happen. even the radio show host was talking about this concert and telling some anecdotes about it.
david lindley, thanks a lot for your music and farewell ...

David Lindley has died at the age of 78. I first became aware of Lindley at the Troubadour one evening in 1972. He was there in support of Jackson Brown who was riding recent success of "Saturate Before Using". He played a blue violin practically the entire set. That evening I became a fan of David Lindley and began to notice his name on so many lp's. I have owned a copy of El Ray-X since it's release and it remains in rotation at home and in the car.
Play on, David, play on.
