I am burnt out, but hey, no time like the Present Continuous.
I have approached the 100th page of translation for #DarkScience aka #ТемнаНаука.
(Message from my future self: still there, I'm exhausted and overworked.)
Can't believe I got to page 100. And I'm not even drawing it, 'just' translating. How hard can it be, right?

One thing that gives me joy despite being tedious af is making #stickers out of it. I have no idea why so many authors, notably comic authors, ignore making messenger stickers. It's *natural* free publicity — if the pictures are memetic, people can do wonders.
AI usage was limited (mostly upscaling), and I'd like to put it somewhere outside of Telegram (for TG users, t.me/addstickers/DarkScience), preferably a stable FOSS platform. Suggestions?

On Friday, I had the great pleasure of giving a talk at the the #DANEMO 2024 Symposium about the work in our interdisciplinary #DarkScience project, where we exploit synergies in Data and Bio Science to make advances in illuminating microbial dark matter:

  5. Any research that gets done with any public funds should be required to published in an #openaccess journal

scicomm.xyz/@SkepticalScience/ This week's Skeptical Science New Research "Most Tragic Not-Open-Access" Nominee" is "The timing of decreasing coastal flood protection due to sea-level rise," authored by by Herman et al. and obfuscated by Nature Climate Change.

The authors specifically mention the utility of their work for policymakers.

The authors specifically mention the utility of their work for policymakers. We observe that the vast majority of policy practitioners will be unable to enjoy the authors' pearls of wisdom (begging for reprints does not scale).
