  1. Flamboyant Cuttlefish Embryos Developing Inside the Egg — Anilao

The flamboyant cuttlefish, Metasepia pfefferi, is a notable cephalopod in the Indo-Pacific, particularly cherished by divers in Anilao, Philippines. Its translucent eggs reveal developing embryos exhibiting early color-changing abilities. After 35–40 days, hatchlings emerge fully independent, embodying adult traits. This species uniquely "walks" on the seafloor, primarily hunting in shallow waters.

  6. I'm sometimes convinced that if they had longer lifespans, cuttlefish, octopus, and other cephalopods could be giving us a run for our money as dominant species on this planet. Incredibly smart, and if they ever figured out how to live out of the water…. (Well, there is the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus, so I suppose it's just a matter of time now.)
