2/2As of 6:00 am this morning, the Oregon Department of State Fire Marshal Blue Team departed for their home units and management of the fire remains under the single command of the Central Oregon Type 3 Incident Management Team through tonight. Command of the fire will transition back to Crook County Fire & Rescue and an Oregon Department of Forestry Type 4 Incident Commander tomorrow morning.
This will be the last daily update for the Highland Fire unless significant changes occur. Future updates will continue to be posted on the Crook County Fire & Rescue Facebook page.

Yesterday, task force structure crews and federal wildland crews continued mop up operations and the reinforcement of existing lines to enhance containment efforts.
Weather today will be warmer and drier with temperatures around 90 degrees and minimum humidity at 13%-18%. Today, crews will continue mop up operations and containment efforts of the fire perimeter.
With the expected hotter and drier weather there is a chance of smoke or trees torching inside the fire perimeter. Report related concerns to Crook County’s 24-hour non-emergency line (541) 447-4168. Please only call 9-1-1 if this activity occurs outside of the fire perimeter or if a structure is threatened.
All evacuation levels that have been reduced to a level 1 or 2 and expect to remain at these levels for the next day or two. Fire personnel continue to work inside and around the fire perimeter. Please reduce speeds while driving in work areas and be aware of heavy machinery and crews along roadways.

CCSO Emergency Management consulted with the Incident Management Team, and we have determined that the Longhorn Subdivision can be reduced to a LEVEL 2 BE SET with restricted access to homeowners only.Homeowners within the Longhorn Subdivision may return at their own discretion, but understand that if conditions change, you may be asked to leave and need to be ready to go at a moment's notice.
There are still hot spots within the fire that could reignite. Please also understand that you may see flames and/or smoke during the day or night. Please utilize the non-emergency line for re-igniting trees. If there is an imminent threat, please utilize 9-1-1
Firefighters are still in the area attending to the hot spots and mopping up. Please be mindful of moving apparatus and personnel. Per Crook County Sheriff's Office on Facebook.

Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched for a brush fire in the area of SE Highland Road, in Prineville, Oregon, at approximately 1543 hours, on 7/12/2025. First arriving crews found a fast-moving fire burning in sage brush and juniper. Crews immediately began structure protection efforts for homes in the immediate vicinity.Multiple agencies were requested and responded to the fire, including the Central Oregon Structural Task Forces, Bureau of Land Management, United States Forest Service, and Oregon Department of Forestry. At this time, there have been no reports of any structures lost. - Per Crook County Fire & Rescue on Facebook.

The Willow Fire has grown to 4,403 acres, burning on Prineville District BLM and private land in Crook County. Firefighters have constructed fire line around the majority of the fire, including the head of the fire on the east side of Buck Creek to prevent further movement to the southeast onto more private land and the Malheur National Forest. The Willow Fire is 0% contained.The Central Oregon Type 3 Incident Management Team under the command of Adam Barnes is now in command of the Willow Fire as of yesterday at 3:00 p.m. There was minimal activity on the fire yesterday and with favorable weather today, BLM and USFS engines, dozers and skidgens, along with Brothers-Hampton Rangeland Fire Protection Association (RFPA) resources will focus on completing fire line construction and to begin securing the fire perimeter and mopping up where possible.
