Tonight we played two very different games involving tactile round components - Cosmic Encounter & The Fuzzies. My opponents were all engineers, so The Fuzzies went on much longer than usual.

Half the fun of Boardgames is in the organization and upkeep of the collection.
Picked up the most recent Cosmic expansion, and now I'm playing the wonderful logistics puzzle of figuring out how much of it I can fit in the box, and what modules I'm going to cull.

The folks in my industry are today mourning the passing of Klaus Teuber, inventor of Settlers of #Catan

Apparently, that title was formative for a whole lot of people... a whole lot younger than me. When I think "formative", I hark back to the likes of #CosmicEncounter and Steve Jackson's #Illuminati and #CarWars.

I give Settlers full credit for making it big on a lot of mass market shelves after it came to the US in 1996, helping more people find the hobby - but, to be fair, Magic: The Gathering had been sold in those same stores for a couple of years by then, and I believe that paved the way for less "mainstream" titles to get a chance.😏

Mostly, I'm just feeling #old now.😔

A friend of mine tried to set me up with some chick by inviting us to play it. Fucking he'll if I'm gonna be set up

Unknowingly, he added an expansion pack to the deck that said "If you have this card, you can steal anything from the deck or the discard pile, as long as you don't get caught."
