Coreper II couldn't agree on a common position today. So it didn't become an A-item on the agenda of next weeks Justice and Home Affairs meeting. (A-item means no discussion, just a vote that is predetermined to go through). It didn't even make a safe spot on the agenda, it's only listed as optional item (the (poss.) means possible agenda item). So #Chatcontrol most likely will stay zombie and moved to the next (polish) presidency.

Still no news from COREPER II (the preparatory body from the council, tasked with finding a common position that can be adopted) as far as I can see. And it is also not an item on the next Agriculture and Fisheries Council, 9-10 December 2024. (Insider joke for the software patent veterans ;)

With a bit of luck, Chatcontrol could die today. Hungary is pushing hard to get a vote in the council *today*, which is a risky move. There should be enough opposition from member states to garantuee that the vote will not succeed. This would mean that the regulation is dead. More likely outcome is (yet another) postponement. So let’s see if the vote will stay in the agenda or not.
