Exciting #CopeBaking news, fedi! @lakelaur took pity on this poor gadgethead who is going through serious gadget withdrawal these days and got me a thermometer gun, so now I can know the exact temperature of my cooking surfaces.

I'm closing in on the methodology. Ingredients-wise, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be some combination of milk and water, and probably not buttermilk, trying about half and half today.

Also, I'm gonna use my Tawa instead of the big coil-spanning cast iron griddle. This reduces me to three at a time with no extra space for tanning the tops, but allows me to adjust temperature through the baking process. Wish I had real crumpet rings...

Mummy is coming up to bring us a bounty of protein so I made my second attempt at #Crumpets and I believe she will be pleased.

Not that I really need an excuse for #CopeBaking

Not bad for my first batch, many of them are more like a pancake than a crumpet. I will need to make like fifty of these before I get the heat setting down.

All these are showing signs of varying amounts of raw batter on top that I (thought I) had no choice but to flip, cause I didn't have heat right.

Looking forward to making these for my parents, once I get the baking down pat. Grocery store crumpets were a frequent treat growing up, mummy loves them.
