  1. I honestly thought the UN CRPD – United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities* – was a dead certainty for incorporation into UK law

    After all, the UK ratified the treaty in July 2009, under the last (New) Labour government, so it’s been a long time coming

    But it seems that the enfeebled Labour opposition under Keir Starmer really don’t want to do anything the Tories wouldn’t do: disabilitynewsservice.com/labo

    At least the Scottish Government have long made it clear that they intend to incorporate the CRPD north of the border (well, at least as far as devolved powers permit**): gov.scot/policies/disabled-peo

    **Not that those count for much any more, after Westminster has shown willingness to use the ‘nuclear’ Section 35 option to overrule the Scottish democratic process
